Beskar was in abundant supply at this time. Remember: it's the Old Republic era, completely different from the Clone Wars and ABY era by literally thousands of years. In this time period, so much further back from the films, Beskar was so common and so abundant that every Mandalorian had full Beskar armor sets, as well as vibroblades that were lightsaber-resistant like the one you saw in this film. Another thing: Beskar isn't just owned by the Mandalorians, it's only just more common. There were a few Jedi and even Sith who used Beskar to create lightsaber-resistant hilts for their own lightsabers so their hilts wouldn't be immediately destroyed in combat. Also remember that whereas Beskar can protect you from blaster bolts and lightsaber blades, it can't completely shield you from direct impact entirely. It'll save your life and you'll suffer burns and injuries, but nothing permanent unless you suffer an injury like Bastun when Revan pressed his blade emitter between the plates, revealing a weak spot in the Beskar armor set. Firstly, Revan isn't Sith at this point. That's why he said "I am not Sith." At the end of the book "Revan" by Drew Karpyshyn, he's known toward the end of the book as "Revan Reborn", so he was actually giving her a different point of view by shattering her understanding of the Jedi philosophy. He wasn't there to kill her, or her guardian, which is why he spared them. He could've easily killed them both in the first few moments of the fight, but he wanted to explain the Force from a reborn point of view. Randomly killing people was never his style, even as a Sith Lord serving the Emperor. Secondly, the Sith actually use a fighting technique called "dun moch" which is exactly that: talking while fighting. The purpose is to use taunts and verbal attacks to throw their opponents off-balance. This is explained by Darth Bane in the Book of Sith: Secrets of the Dark Side. "Any combat situation or style can be enhanced by the use of dun moch. This tactic employs taunts and verbal attacks to weaken your enemy's will. It takes only a few words to expose your opponent's lack of confidence and to lay it out to manipulate" - Darth Bane. More on this, Sidious actually writes in this section underneath. "Dun moch may backfire if it provokes an enemy to mindless anger. But rage opens your enemy to the dark side, which can be exploited in its own way" - Sidious. To answer your question about why the two teams were fighting over Mission Vao, the Twi'lek character, one team was the Mandalorians. They were trying to capture her so they could collect a bounty from the Mandalore at this time: Canderous Ordo, who was another friend of Revan's before becoming Revan Reborn. Canderous wanted Mission so he could locate Revan. The other team, the Republic S.I.S. (which is like special forces for the Republic military) wanted to bring her to the Republic because the beacon that Mission was using made her appear on their radar as a Republic ambassador, which is why the one soldier says "you are the ambassador, right? The beacon?" But of course, the Mandalorians and the S.I.S. kill each other, leaving Revan and Mission to be the last two standing, which he then takes her back as part of his original crew. One final thing: go back and listen again to what Revan was saying to the Jedi about the Force, and listen carefully. A lot of what he says is definitely worth considering especially at the end of the fight where he hands the Jedi, her lightsaber.
