Twins turn tragedy into lifetime dedicated to neurologic research

After David Carmel was paralyzed in a diving accident, he and his identical brother, Dr. Jason Carmel, who works for Columbia University and NewYork-Presbyterian, dedicated their lives to nerve generation research and finding ways help people with spinal cord injuries recover function. I had radial nerve paralysis from a humeral fracture. It was a blessing in disguise when one day, I requested a medical professional to modify placement of Kinesiotape & extend it beyond my elbow, that same night, elbow started fasciculating, the next day, my fingers started moving. I believe like what the Neuro said, it’s connecting the paired nerves. In addition, helping the paired nerves to be closer to help spark the new electric connection.
