Not only is the Palast orchestra the best 1930s Dance Band in existence, but I think this rendition of Singing in the Rain is the best in existence also. It transports me through time...to back then.

This guy is one incredible performer, with excellent diction in at least three or four European languages, terrific sense of humour and a unique artist, in some sort of stage entertainment that's hard to describe and specify or even define...Most refreshing, and nostalgic at the same time. Hab vor kurzem die Doku über die Konzerte die das erste Mal in Israel gespielt worden. Die Reaktion der älteren Herrschaften in Deutschland geboren und aufgewachsen sind und das unsägliche Grauen überlebt haben hat mich tief getroffen...... Danke Herr Raabe und freundliche Grüße

Vorschlag: An Stelle von F. Silbereisen mit seinen unsäglichen Samstagsabend Shows bitte mal ein Konzert mit Max Rabe und seinem Palastorchester. Was sind das für Programmgestalter in Deutschland, die mir mehrmals diese Verblödung an einem Samstag präsentieren. Max Raabe ist einer der wenigen Sänger und Musiker in Deutschland der witzige und sinnvolle Texte singt und man sieht ihn kaum im Fernsehen. Stattdessen hören wir Musik mit wummernden Bässen und überdimensionalen Schlagzeug ohne Melodieen und banalen Texten. Als Krönung singen dann sogenannte Stars, die seit 30 Jahren und mehr out sind und von Silbereisen wir Stars angepriesen werden. Wie wohltuend setzt sich Max Raabe davon ab.

He (Max Raabe) has an introduction to this song that goes: this is not the wellknown bigbandversoin (with Gene Kelly) which everyone knows, this is the original version for danceorchestra from 1929 (he says this in a totally serious mocking tone, rather funny)

Max once said in an Interview that it was funny to see you can surprise (or even scare?) an American audiance by not moving too much onstage. In Germany, it´s rather normal to not always play it big...:-)
