Wish the bears could be as tough as they were in those days. Love that shot the defensive line guy made. He was pissed that the O line guy kind of slapped at his head, so he just let loose. Man how I used to look forward to watching TWIPF on those early sunday mornings before the games started (on the west coast) Pat and Tom were the best! they just went together and I was very upset when they broke them up as a team. I miss all these games on grass, in the mud and snow and rain, now it's all so sanitized

Being tough is one thing. But I would prefer discipline and talent. That's usually the difference between the contenders and the rest of the pack. But I do miss the way this game was played then.

Some LONG seasons for the NY Giants. Must have been tough for Pat Summerall.

But Summerall of all people know that kind of drought is part of the cycle of winning and losing. Up to 1965, the Giants were almost annual Contenders. But from 65-81 they were mere also-rans. Then all that changed with the arrival of LT and Tuna. Every franchise goes through those lean years.

The Yale Bowl was a home field disadvantage. I am not a Giants fan, but the 1970s Giants were kneecapped in many, many ways, and honestly, they were much like the Lions, Falcons, Eagles, Bills, Browns, Packers, Cardinals, Patriots, and 49ers... good for a year or three, doormats on occasion, and definitely second- or even third-tier. But... thank God for the Saints and Jets, who were always a little bit worse.

@@macofalltrades6396 Elementary school wasn't a great time to be a Giants fan. The only saving grace was that the Eagles were even worse.
