Preacher History.

Preacher is first introduced to the Twisted Metal series in Twisted Metal: Black and returns in Twisted Metal (2012).
Disorder: Paranoid Schizophrenia with persecutory and grandiose delusions.
Treatment: Intramuscular meds, restraints, *avoid theological discussions!
Desire: Drive out the devil himself.
Preacher returns in Twisted Metal (2012), however he doesn't have his own storyline. He appears in Mr. Grimm's middle cutscene, and again after Dollface's ending. He is playable in every game mode other than Story Mode. His gang is called The Holy Men.
In Mr. Grimm's middle cutscene, it shows that his objective is to "tear down Calypso's tower of sin", the tower of sin referring to the Calypso Industries HQ. During the cutscene after the credits, Preacher is seen being in an asylum that appears to be in another dimension (probably hell, or is among other souls Calypso has trapped, implying he died in the contest) inside Calypso Industries, screaming, "I know who you are!".
Trivia
■His name, despite not necessarily being correct, is Jebediah. It is hinted on his intro movie on Twisted Metal: Black and his bio on Twisted Metal: Lost.
■Preacher is the man responsible for cursing Sweet Tooth, giving him the iconic flaming head.
■The man that Preacher stabs with a candelabra in his ending, appears to be Billy Ray Stillwell, before he is disfigured.
■Preacher's ending was originally more graphic, showing him drowning the infant he was "exorcising".
■Preacher's red glasses in the new Twisted Metal bear some similarity to the red shades of Hellsing protagonist Alucard, who ironically had a fellow vampire hunting priest whom he regarded as his rival.
■In contrast to his similarity to Alucard, Preacher's expression also resembles that of Alucard's rival Anderson when he turns superhuman.
■Most people consider Preacher as Mortimer Scharf.

Considering his cutscenes just come out of nowhere in Story Mode, I wouldn't be surprised if they were originally made for his campaign, but the whole thing was probably scrapped in favor of the other 3 characters due to time, money, or etc.

The Black version of Preacher was a man plagued by possession who was locked up in Blackgate for killing an entire congregation of parishioners during a baptism ceremony. His wish was to be freed of his possession; Calypso revealed to him that he was solely responsible for his actions, and his actions were unforgivable. Black's Preacher committed suicide by bass jumping without a parachute. Remember, though, there was another Twisted Metal universe created where Sweet Tooth took control of the contest and made Calypso Industries into a circus of mayhem; that version of Calypso is most likely the version represented in 2012.

You know, I was disappointed in this Twisted Metal. I didn’t like most of the things in it-especially on the story front. But there is ONE THING it got right. This version of the PREACHER is awesome. Much better than the Black version of the character. In that game he was just an insane man. But here-he is the polar opposite of Calypso. Jebediah is an insane preacher who thinks that a Genie who runs a demolition derby, wears a business suit, and lives in a penthouse is actually Satan whose pad is actually a portal to hell. He thinks God has raised him up to take the devil down. He might be right. Or he might be insane. Or both. Regardless, he is committed to his righteous cause and unafraid of any opposition, supernatural or otherwise. This is the perfect foil for Calypso. It is a war between a man of demonic power and a man of Godly power, the unholy vs holy, the magic vs faith. So much potential.

Following the trauma he started getting visions-prophetic visions from the Bible. He then connects the events of Twisted Metal with the apocalyptic passages of the Bible. He looks at Calypso's tower and where everyone sees a giant "C" he sees a "6" along side two other "6s". He becomes convinced that he is in the end times and that Calypso was the anti-christ. This would leave it open to interpretation-is he seeing these visions because he's right or is it merely the result of the trauma he received from the previous Twisted Metal contest? Calypso: Ah Jebidiah...finally decided to use the devil's tools to do the Lord's work and enter my contest? What must your God think of you now? Preacher: I know who you are demon. I know what you are. Lucifer, son of the morning, Belial who sought to ascend into heaven and be like the most high, Satan the serpent who tempted man. God has set before you life and death and you the father of lies have chosen sin and the wages of sin is death. And thus my God sought out one who would end this this accursed contest, and like the prophets of old I said "Here am I Lord-send me" and so he has! I will, as the Lord said of those who entice those to sin, make you better off with a milstone around your neck and tossed into the sea. I will- Calypso: Yes..yes...Jebidiah. We've been through this before. Now, if you will be so kind, tell me your wish, as I am a man short on time. Preacher: I shall not tell you my wish. Calypso: You have no wish? I say it contains the souls of both contestants and bystanders. My theory is Preacher and his group may have been killed during one of the characters' story mode (possibly Mr. Grimm's or Dollface's) and Calypso, seeing Preacher as a threat, locked him up.

No, Twisted Metal Black was in Sweet Tooth's head. The painting is basically a prison where Calypso keeps the souls of those killed as a result of his contest, including past competitors.

@HeroesCash In till thay make more Ending's/DCL if thay do. Preacher returns in Twisted Metal (2012), however he doesn't have his own storyline. He appears in Mr. Grimm's middle cutscene, and again after Dollface's ending. In Mr. Grimm's middle cutscene, it shows that his objective is to "tear down Calypso's tower of sin", the tower of sin referring to the Calypso Industries HQ. After the credits, Preacher is seen being in an asylum that appears to be in another dimension
