TM holds a special place in my heart, it was the first game I got for my very own Playstation back in the day, and my grandfather loved playing games as well, so every time a Twisted Metal game came we'd have fun even just looking at the characters in the manual for the game, and I'd try to get him to guess what the characters were, and he'd always make up funny names

I like how this Calypso is written a bit more than in some of the later games. Twisting people's wishes to cause them misery wasn't unfitting, but after a while, it was too predictable; as soon as you heard the wish, you could guess exactly how Calypso would change it. This Calypso is still sadistic and megalomaniacal, but he's also shown to be entertained by the drivers and invested in their motives; it makes him a more interesting and enigmatic character.

Yep I like that too. That sometimes he'll screw you over, but often he'll just give you what you want and let you go here. It's funny to see people earnestly going "Thanks, Calypso!" and driving off with their prize, no strings. He only screws over the fools and people who try to screw him over first. Except Spector. Ya gotta have a laugh now and then, right?

Technically it's not the only time. Twisted Metal 2 had Minion's ending where he effortlessly overpowers Calypso and forever condemns him to the depths of Hell. Calypso even begs and pleads for him to stop. Which makes it extremely confusing that in Twisted Metal 3, Minion doesn't do that, and instead makes the mistake of wishing for something, resulting in getting royally screwed by Calypso. Talk about a downgrade.
