LOL that's great. Stay Hungry is such a good album for its time. Twisted Sister received no radio airplay out on the West Coast of U.S.A. (except for U Cant Stop Rock & Roll the song, not any other song from that or their 1st album) The band is from New York City and from what I heard no one could touch their shows in N.Y.C.. I love Dee's attitude and Jay Jay French did amazing work as the manager of Sevendust. They were an original hard working band. It's too bad they bent towards glam rock at the end of their careers as TS. Who knows what could have been? I actually had Stay Hungry on 8-track LOL it was the last 8-track I ever bought so I will always remember it fondly. Suicidal 4 Life ✌️🤘

I just bought a double cd concert at Hammersmith - that was recorded in 1984. It’s pretty good. Dee was a big time yapper between songs though. I saw them during “ Come Out and Play “ tour. Some of those songs were just downright silly in concert. Dee had the spotlight shine on some kid in a faraway horrible seat. He got this kid on stage. Can't remember exactly where I saw it, but this was way before MTV here in Sweden, so probably on some weekly music show that featured a tiny bit of metal on each episode. Life as a young metalhead was rough back then 😅 For whatever reason I never bought the album as a kid (or any other TS album for that matter) but two years ago I ordered the cd. Now I probably should pick up "Under the Blade". Don't think I've heard much from that album at all, and for some weird reason, up until watcing this video I always thought UtB was the band's second release. Here are a few interesting facts. Dee Snider was a big fan of the 1979 cult classic film The Warriors, about a gang that has to cross dangerous enemy gang territory to get to safety after being framed for the death of a rival gang leader. At one point they are hiding in an apparently abandoned apartment building, and one very stoned but dangerous rival gang member is sitting outside in a crazy looking car clicking empty beer bottles together rhythmically and taunting them, "Warriors, come out to play." That line was the inspiration, as you might have guessed, for Come Out And Play. Dee Snider even mimics actor David Patrick Kelly's slow, menacing delivery of the line on the album, except it's, "Twisted Sister, come out and play." The song "The Leader of the Pack" is actually a reworked cover version of the du-wop classic by early 60s girl group the Shangri Las. The lyrics tell the story of a motorcycle gang leader who fatally crashed his bike after his girlfriend's father forced her to break up with him. The original was told from the point of view of the girlfriend. Dee had to slightly adjust the lyrics to the viewpoint of the biker himself, which made it even more morbid and creepy, since the "dead" man was narrating the events of his death. Twisted Sister seems to me to have followed the same career trajectory as Def Leppard. Both bands released two blistering, hard heavy metal masterpieces, then hit mainstream mega-success with a still pretty hard, but slightly more mainstream hard rock album, then sold out to poppy slop. Come to think of it, that's pretty much Motley Crue's output, too.

Twisted Sister were at their best and most powerful before they ever started recording records. I agree that their best (and, to me, only album worth listening to) is Under The Blade. It somewhat captures the sound of their pre-recording club days. After Under The Blade, forget them. Also, I kind of thought they looked more like the New York Dolls than Kiss. What always makes me laugh is how Dee Snider acts like they were some sort of legends, when the truth is they really only had a couple of hit songs over a short period of time.

I used to respect those guys, but stupid actions & interviews by Dee Snider and Jay Jay French made me lose a lot of respect for those guys. Just recently saw a Jay Jay French interview where he was putting TS on the same level as AC/DC 😅😅 😅

They were a band that worked very hard for what success they did have. They were not the best songwriters or musicians but they did have a few really good songs. I am and the price are my personal favorites. I guess if I had to pick one stay hungry would be my favorite album from the studios but I like their live album the best from Hammersmith.

I'd have to rank them as the following: 5. Love Is For Suckers-not very good pop metal, but some okay songs here and there, Dee's voice fits melodic rock really well, but the songs are so cheesy 4. Under the Blade-a pretty good album for the most part, but there's a few songs that are just really big and dumb and boring in an AC/DC sort of way 3. Come Out and Play-a surprisingly good album in my opinion; I like the commercial, melodic tunes, and there's a few super heavy, speedy metal tracks 2. Stay Hungry-I would put this at #1 except those 2 big hits are so stupid and I don't care to hear them every again 1. You Can't Stop Rock 'n' Roll-their most solid album top to bottom, truly not a halfway bad tune on it anywhere

Despite the quirkiness of the Twisted Christmas album. I find it hilarious to play during Christmas time with certain friends and family around. I passionately hate all the pop Christmas music everyone plays from Mariah Carey and Paul McCartney, so I like to dial up some obnoxiousness with a Twisted Christmas. And “Oh Come All Ye Faithful” video was hilariously ridiculous. It’s a Christmas tradition in our house. 🤟

Hey, what about doing and rank em all of Loudness🤔 I’m guessing you probably haven’t listened to all their material tho😂 Jay Jay French has said the reason the band eventually broke up was due to the inclusion of that cover of ‘The leader of the pack’ they decided to include on “Come out and play” he says “The song worked while we performed it in local bars, but didn’t translate well when recorded for a studio release” I guess that’s true since they faded into relative obscurity after that. I mean “Love is for suckers” is still a great album, but I’m being a little biased, since I automatically will love anything produced by Beau Hill😂
@RuthlessMetalYT2 жыл бұрын
That's correct, I haven't and I probably never will even though their early stuff is cool. :D Cheers!

@@RuthlessMetalYT I only stick with the stuff with their og vocalist or Mike Vescera, I have never touched any of the releases that feature vocals of the guy who fronted another Japanese metal outfit either. What about Candlemass then? Though Messiah is my clear favourite, Johan is a close second and though he’s a great vocalist, Mats Leven’s voice has just never clicked with the way the voices of the other two have.

I love Wake Up The Sleeping Giant and the titke track from Love Is For Suckers, and Hot Love and the much maligned I Want This Night are enjoyable. I actually enjoy them more than the good songs from Come Out and Play. That being said, those two are a few levels below the first three. My favorite is, always has and always will be Stay Hungry, even if that's the most obvious one. I love the first two, but there's just some magic about Stay Hungry which just speaks to me. I've only heard the Still Hungry version of Burn In Hell, and that was enough to put me off that album. I generally avoid re-recorded albums anyaw. My problem with A Twisted Christmas isn't that it's a christmas album, but rather the poor choice of songs. Yes, nost christmas songs are boring as fuck and overplayed to death, but there are still maybe a handful of enjoyable ones (not enough for a full-length, but maybe 6/7 track EP, and not all of them would lend themselves well to a heavy metal version). But still, novelty albums can piss off anyway. They definitely deserve to be at the bottom.

Love is for suckers is actually a Dee Snider solo album that the record label decide to slap the Twisted Sister name on it and got the out on the road. Big mistake by the record label..
