Fun fact. In either the summers of '77 or '78 (can't remember which), I would watch Twisted Sister play in the Gemini II nightclub in Yorktown Heights, NY. Probably held, at the most, 200 people. The bands we would watch play there were mostly cover bands, but when Twisted Sister was there, the word would be to go see them as they always put on an awesome show! I think they were from Long Island or Jersey and it would have been before they put out any albums, I believe. I was 18 or 19 at the time. Good memories! Thanks for the lesson, Dave!

Hey Bill, that's awesome - I hear they certainly paid their dues in that scene. Dee has still got it too!

Shook me all night long was my first solo when I was 13. My guitar teacher wanted me to get better at chord changes, string muting and bending notes to pitch.

Vietnamese Baby was the first solo I figured out. Thunders played unison bends almost exclusively. Twisted Sister & the NY Dolls probably played shows together.

So, "is this guitar solo too easy?" you ask... Well, I reckon that I'll more than likely mess it up 🤣 That said, I appreciate you taking the time to do all this work so that numbskulls like me might actually get better at playing guitar (when I'm not always working that is), thanks man!

LOL You will conquer it! And I can relate to the work dilemma :)

I don't like it when a guitar solo just mimics the song's melody. Unfortunately, The Beatles were guilty of this. Don't get me wrong, The Beatles were amazing, but their solos usually were lacking, IMHO.

Yeah, but It helps new guitar players keep the melody of the song in mind to keep the solo more cohesive with the song. David Gilmore a master of that.
