You are right. The dorms rank from weakest (Not saying Heartslabyul is weak, just less strong as compared the others) to the strongest which will be Diasomnia, the 7th dorm. That’s why with each dorm, there is a difference in the difficulty of overcoming an Overbolt. And yes I am wondering the same about Malleus 👀 But it could be Lilia too, since Jamil the vice leader went through Overbolt but Malleus seems to fit more in going in Overbolt (perhaps his reason could be for being ignored and people not approaching because of his aura) but let’s see :D

Damn I’m impressed how much development Kalim is getting. He instantly knew what was up with Vil as it reminded him of Jamil. The thing is however, he ran as fast as he could to get to Vil that he didn’t say a word of it to Jamil. The emotion in their voices, the music, everything really layers together to make a really chilly scene. And good lord, hearing Vil nearly _Growl_ is /terrifying/. THIS, was probably one of the most intense builds to an overblot there's been tbh. The emotion, the panic, the danger feels way heavier in this and Vil's just /losing/ is absolute mind here- In the end, he became the villain he never wanted to be. I mean, of course he did, that's how these tragic tales work, but the way it was threaded together really makes you feel every step to that final point. Also the SOUND of that impact when Deuce attacks Vil, it's so heavy sounding- like if Vil isn't busted up after that, I'll be shocked. They really took the time to make sure it sounded like that /hurt/.

Yeah. When Vil goes over the edge, he takes a flying leap! I wonder if his going strait to an attempted poisoning and extreme unraveling afterward are an indicator of how long he has been near Overblot? I hope both Vil and Deuce are...relatively...okay after that blow. If Deuce used Vil’s ambient magic to form the attack, that’s both a lot of magic to channel and get hit with, considering that Vil pretty much had the stadium under lock down.

The more hit he take the more powerful deuces attack.. Out of all the attempts these boys did before they overblotted, Vil was the only one so far who's actions were more literal than figurative of what the villians did. The Queen tried to kill Snow White with a poison apple too. The only thing was that not only did she scaraficed her outer beauty (possibly to do it temporarily), but she used a full apple that would have her be in a death-like state, so she won't really be dead for good since she only had to have the prince give her a kiss of true love (don't remember if it had to be true love's first kiss like in The Little Mermaid). Vil's "disguise" was more on how he acted as a friend to Nedge and gave him a bottle of apple juice from Epel's family's apple farm that he poisoned with his unique magic, only in this case, there would be no way to have Nedge come back to life with a kiss or however else. He'd be dead for good. Vil actually attempted murder like the Queen and the other villians. He was so desperate at that moment for feeling like anything he does is never enough, so if he can't be no.1, neither Nedge or no one else will. Like the Queen, he is beautiful on the outside, but his obsession with looks made him ugly on the inside. He's a beautiful tragidy. By the way, had anyone noticed that Vil's right eye instead of his left was glowing and that the ink-like stuff dripping from his eye looked like what happens when you cry with mascara on if it's not water proof? That's pretty thoughtful of Toboso to add that detail, being that make up is often referred to beauty and Vil often wore it himself. I would also argue that every overblot form has a dripping drop of ink that is like a symbolization of a tear from their sorrow.

There was something about his overblot form that reminded me a bit like those religious symbols, more specifically the Virgin Mary. As totally unrelated as it is since there's nothing religious about the story of Snow White, or at least the Disney version, the gold things from behind Vil's head made me think of the rays of light coming from behind those like Mary or Jesus. There's a lot of images like that in Catholicism, especially the paintings and stained glass windows often found in churches and cathedrals. The way the black veil was draped reminded me of Mary's veil a bit too even though it's probably more of a reference to the black cloke the Queen wore for her old hag disguise. I would say, at least for myself, that no, I don't think you mentioning this is really offensive. I also say this as someone who was also raised Catholic, but I'm not really so religious these days. Either way, I know you mean well ^_^

Everything in this chapter have such a strong reference to Snow White, from Vil and Neige’s conversation, Vil wants to poison him, Rook stopping Vil and telling Neige to run is similar to the hunter’s betrayal, and even the Evil Queen’s shadow behind Vil’s overblot have a freaking apple basket and one of the attacks is to throw the poison apple towards the opponents😂👌🏻. I really like that ngl. Deuce finally have his own Unique Magic! I’m so happy for him! Kinda ironic that he may not be that smart and is kind of simple mind, he’s the first one to develop his own UM among the trio. Also maybe it’s just me, but as we went through each overblot, the damage and the intensity just keep increasing, makes me wonder how are we going to handle Malleus’s overblot when he is the most powerful magician in the school. To be fair, if you go back to the original Snow White movie, the Evil Queen’s goal was to fully kill Snow White. I guess the writers wanted to keep that point. It appears that Jamil practiced all along his carefree, cheerful and restless attitude for his strategy, just watching and following Kalim (for years), which he never imagined it could be useful and work that well. The way that Rook and Neige talked to each other makes it sound like they know each other. Did they meet each other as kids or maybe in a previous life? It's also near the end of the episode and we haven't learned Rook's unique magic or if he even has one. That's strange since we learned in all the previous dorms what all their members who had unique magic was even if they weren't the one overblotting. Is Rook going to remain a mystery even at the end of chapter 5? The clawed hands that Vil has in his overblot form looks like Crowley's clawed hands and now I'm thinking of those theories of Crowley being connected to the Evil Queen.

That or Neige knew a family member of Rook and not him directly and Rook took up his family member's speech pattern which Neige recognizes. Or there's always the theory that Rook is the reincarnation of the Huntsman and Neige is the reincarnation of Snow White and they know each other through their past lives.

But you have a point about this affecting the performance later. After all, singing and dancing takes energy, and Neige might not have enough of that for the later performance. I think Bet the Limit fits better. Deuce's UM requires him to take a lot of hits so he can hit back stronger but because he needs to be hit, he risks going well over that what he can actually take. So his UM's name being Bet The Limit makes sense, powerful when used right but is a risky gamble that can go horribly wrong.

For Malleus I can only assume that it's the gratuitous amount of protection he gets from Lilia, Silver and Sebek even though he wants to be alone or individual I suppose. His life is a bit like Aurora's in a way? The three fairies doted on her a lot and worried like everyone does to Malleus even though he's shown to be perfectly capable to do things on his own. For Idia I'm not sure...it might have something to do with his introverted nature? I do wonder if we'll see a character inspired by Zeus in his story since he plays a big part in Hercules.
