I mostly fish off the bank, and where I'm from, there isn't really any "open" water. I'm always pulling fish through weeds, sticks, pads, and the like before I even have the chance to reach down and land them. Because of this, I stopped fishing ester (just so frustrating). I experimented so many lines but to no satisfaction until I found Varivas Super Trout Area SVG Nylon - 4lb. I cannot express how happy this line has made me!

Ha.. Victor.."Yoga Pants" is the name of the "black" color ZMan uses on the WormZ's. It's kind of dark grey to black with black specs inside of the elastech, so especially near the tail, you can see through it. ..also, I totall agree with everything you said about transitioning to ultra lite and super ultra lite fishing. I started as a bass fisherman 45 years ago. When bass fishing started getting tough in the early winter in Louisiana, I tried ultra lite to target Crappie. Ultra lite for me at that time was 4 lb. test mono and a rod that was a true ultra lite, but modeled, as you say after bass fishing rods. It was suggested that 4 - 8 lb line be used on it if I remember right. Four years ago, I was still using my 35 year old upgraded ultra lite equipment. A thinner rod that cost me about $100 (All Star Graphite 5' 6" rod, 4 - 8 lb. line rated, and 1/8 - 3/8 oz. lure rated), with a Daiwa SS 700 Tournament reel. I would say that compares to a 1000 size Shimano today. That reel was my most expensive purchase back in the late 1980's at $75, and it's rated for 4, 6 and 8lb. test. I started watching YOUR channel near the beginning of this past April. I remember commenting that I could NEVER use anything less than 4 lb. where I fish because of the snags, etc. I was already using 8 lb. Daiwa X8 Braid at that time, but after hearing you comment many times on line diameter, I tried 6 lb. X8 J-Braid on one of my reels. Casting distance improved dramatically. In June (I think) decided to try the 6 lb. braid with a 2 lb. leader instead of my usual 4 lb. leader. While I didn't like the way the line curled just above the knots, no mater how hard I tried to ease tightening the knot, I didn't break off! I had set my drag much loser rather than just below where I thought the line would break. I was enjoying my longer fights with the smaller fish and decided to get a C2000S Vanford FROM JAPAN for my birthday this past May. My next step after that was a 6' 2" Olympic Bellezza SUL from Japan in September. I decided to try 2.3 lb. Ester on that Vanford / Bellezza combo around the middle of September. My first outing with Ester was a challenge. It was very windy that day and the line was new and freshly spooled on the reel. I didn't lose any line that trip, but I did once or twice in late September / early October. I found some old "Reel Snot" line conditioner and decided to give that a try. That made a huge difference in manageability of the Ester for me, and I used it on my Miravel 1000 just last month when I spooled it up with some clear 2.3 lb. Varivas Ester line just before going to Texas for Thanksgiving. It's working great. No kinks or wind knots. So I personally have come a long way in just the past 8 months. I enjoy fishing more than I ever have before, and I really want another Bellezza and either a second 2020 Vanford C2000S (NOT the 2024!!!) or Soare C2000S reel. Thank you Victor for taking the time to share all that you share with us viewers! In so doing, you have helped me to experience ultra lite fishing at a new and even more enjoyable level. I should also add that since April, I've purchased BG-1's and floats a few times. I have all these Trout Magnet jig heads that I had JUST purchased to restock my supply with in March. Mostly, they are just sitting in one of my tackle bags I use to keep all my lures and terminal tackle in that "replenishes" my tackle bag I take with me on trips. BG-1's have also changed my fishing life. Thanks again "Bro"!!! Keep 'em coming! ..and Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you and anyone else who might take the time to read this comment!

Btw, my Cardiff Limited rod have tubular tip,and the cheapest version which btw is very good, Cardiff AX, for us in Europe is brilliant. I enjoy them both, but the Corto and the Soare Limited are also very sensitive but vert expensive,and very close to the upper ones, what I have to say is that for trout which i love angling,it is better to twich with solid,and 0,7g to 1,25g fine japanese spoons wit tubular and 2,5lb line maximum. I do understand that you are fishing from boat,which is very different as from the bank. Viktor, you’re the best 🎉 Keep it going ❤
@ifishcatfishАй бұрын
I don't think solid tip is good for any kind of twitch. What u do with the the rod is not what happens with the lure. U pull and u think u twitch, but the tip bends and kills most of the pull. But i am not looking for a debate here; that's your opinion, and this is mine.

My biggest issue with ester had been the knots. I kept breaking at my knots and I was getting very frustrated. Now I think I’m finally getting the hang of just barely snugging up my knot and leaving a bit longer tag. I also can’t see the damn clear one for the life of me but it’s nice not to have to tie a leader.
@ifishcatfishАй бұрын
lol : ), i can't see the clear one either, and i've been blaming my eyes. I can't remember if i used to see it 3 years ago. But lately i see less and less, especially if light is not perfect. Relying 100% on feel, once i cast. As for the knot, Randy once gave folks a tip that is worth $100 easily: use a knot in which you have confidence, and then DON'T SINCH IT all the way! Dont test it, dont check it! If u put 2 lb force on the knot to test it, you already damaged it 50%. Make sure you tie it TIGHT, trim the ends, and leave it alone. The fish will sinch it for you! The sinching actually extends the life of the knot. That said, you shouldn't have the wrong expectations either - it will never be as strong as mono-to-mono knot

Don't take this the wrong way, but my advice is to adopt a fishing technique with a shorter rod. There are no good 12 foot rods in the world. It sux to do ultralight fishing with a heavy duty broomstick

i agree with you as i tested lines and rods... 2 pound will catch most game fish sizes when theres no heavy cover and drop offs to sang... also i find it funny how the japan people keep reeling in the fish even when the drag is being pulled by the fish lol.. let the drag and line and rod do its job and enjoy the run, i never really reel/ wrench in the fish with the reel its mostly done with the rod as i pull up and then reel in as i put the rod down.. also sunline makes 3.1 pound ester line

Sorry I didn't get to give you a full reply yesterday, Victor. I was really sick after dialysis. I was wondering if you could give me a Japanese rod recommendation that would match my Cardiff somewhere in the $200 range. I would love something like the Diplomat, but it's way out of my price range, and doesn't seem to be available anywhere. I watched your 2024 rod video. The Yamaga Blanks Blue Current seems to go well, but I was hoping you could think of something else. Thanks in advance!
@ifishcatfishАй бұрын
i don't know may japanese rods that cost 200. The ones that cost 300 are more interesting to me.. As far as $200 rods go, i would need someone to send me one of these for review to review it, because they are not good enough for me to keep, and too expensive to just buy for a review. I'm not that rich to buy $200 rods just for a review, and my reviews don't make much money.. Also every rod that i have bought in the last 5 years is in my Rod Reviews folder.. so u can check that. I haven't fished anything else.
