Alternative take: Twitch hates losing money. Asmongold doesn't make them any money (and actively loses them money) because he streams on his alt account that isn't partnered, so it's almost a welcome sight to have a reason to ban him. Hasan on the other hand makes Twitch tons of money so they will be more lenient. This double standard has always been the case throughout the history of Twitch.

I'm not surprised at all that Asmon got banned. By the rules he was probably over the line. But the double standard is obvious. My first break with the liberal center was also sparked by Islam some 14ish years ago - when I noticed liberal friends and relatives of mine giving free passes to behaviors Muslims would engage in, while coming down furiously against much lighter things Christians were doing. I was a very outspoken critic of Christianity like the rest, but these same liberals were cheering when, for example, a community center gave girls-only swimming times for Muslim immigrants. The hypocrisy was beyond anything I could imagine...since I pointed out.. they'd be flipping their lids if christians were trying to separate men and women swimming in America. So anyway I'm not surprised that twitch is still doing the same thing. I think a lot of it comes from a good place - trying to give "outsiders" the benefit of the doubt, and not to oppress the minority. But as this "minority" is growing larger and larger, and having a larger influence on western culture and countries, liberals need to hold the line consistently or they'll get buried by their own empathy.

I refused to use twitch ever since the hot tub stuff. It made it so female creators who werent getting almost naked on camera were always at disadvantage to those who did. If twitch really cared about mYsOGynY in gaming communities, maybe they should promote normal female gamers on their home page instead of soft core prostitutes. Im a woman so my perpective is probably different than a lot of guys

The way it's degenerated into an advertising platform for Onlyfans is really gross. Twitch is a 13+ platform, but it encourages an ecosystem where women compete to skirt the rules to funnel people to their link tree. Twitch encourages this behavior, but will do its best to ban vtubers that try to protect their identity for the most minor of infractions regardless of their outfits.

The amount of antisemitism on Twitch is pretty insane. It almost balances out the insane amount of antisemitism on TikTok. We do live in rather very strange times.

Prefacing this post by saying, it may be difficult to engage in discussion in the comment section sheerly because of the subject matter and much of the vocabulary that goes along with it. I'm almost certain that a number of posts (mine, at least) on the same or similar issues are and have been shadow banned here on youtube. But here we go: There was a time when the worst we had to deal with on Twitch was the indentitarian politics of the Twitch Ambassador Program and the quarantined cesspool that is "Just Chatting.": But we've reached a point here in the West where the political divide is so great, that one's leanings are first and foremost in everything. Businesses, no matter how neutral they wish to seem, are either forced to choose or are assigned a side in the public eye. Twitch, by thine own hand, had firmly slotted into leftist ideology. The hypocrisy and double standards are so numerous and far reaching at this point. It's almost as if Asmon martyred himself for the sake of this corruption being brought to light. And along those lines, what exactly was it that Asmon said that was wrong; and by that, I mean "incorrect"? Shari'a law is very much anathema to western culture/sensibilities. Going through the reasoning for his ban, it appears it could only be attributed to "hatred", "discrimination", or "denigration". But what is wrong about hating a group that promotes and acts on hatred? Would one get banned for espousing "I hate Nazis?" Discrimination only qualifies due to the former, and once again, is circular in its presentation, in discriminating against a group that discriminates. Lastly, there's denigration. Just how much could you have policed tone in order for Asmon to "get away with it?" Strike the lines: "They are terrible people." and "They come from an inferior culture." and all you'd be left with are factual statements. I really don't see Twitch weathering this controversy. It needs some Elon level overhaul, or it's just going to die. I've heard other creators stating that they don't believe Twitch will be around in a year. In which case, nothing of value was lost.

I'm somewhat surprised I was able to post the video with it being restricted in some way, shape, or form given the content. This wasn't a fun video to make given the content, but I really hate seeing how the kind of vitriol that's given a pass on the far left. Having a conversation on so many things is not only discouraged, but has been actively punished across social groups, social media, and even peoples jobs depending on your opinions on a subject. There are so many uncomfortable truths that people flat out to refuse to even talk about because they are more afraid of being called a name than being informed. I've got a fair number of family members that go feral the moment you even attempt to talk about things that they clearly know nothing about. If Elon had the chance I bet he would buy twitch, he's been wanting to make Twitter a streaming platform among other things, would be a great opportunity to trim the fat. But if Twitch were to fall apart there's other platforms for creators to go.
