if anyone's curious, the thing at 8:25:00 about Hawaii having the largest homeless population is either a slight mistranslation, or error in the original, what they mean is that Hawaii has the highest *rate* of homelessness. So California has more total, but Hawaii has a worse rate per capita, though I think this information has changed very recently. I think Hawaii might have dropped to 4th, but it's still quite a bad rate.

you are correct, Hawaii is number 5 if you include DC, but DC is just a large city and not an entire state, of the states, Hawaii is number 4. And before people say that Urban Areas are just bad with the homeless, Vermont, a state with 65% of it's population living Rural, has the second highest rate of any state, just behind California.

I wish I had the time to catch these streams live just to talk about Hawaii culture as Ray encounters it. That first cop he encounters in Hawaii is probably the most Local sounding character so far. I wish they had Pidgin speaking voice actors in the game but I imagine it would be hard to find some in Japan. Also, 8:50:58, Kden just means "Okay then".

When I was in Japan I frequented a spot called CoCo Ichibanya. It is a curry house fast food place. Their heat scale went up to 10. I love spicy food, but anything above 5 was just painful, 3 was a good level I could eat and not feel the need to get to a bathroom. I could eat the level 10, but only as a challenge or bet.

My understanding is it's been that way since 0 (maybe as far back as 5, but definitely since 0). Personally I would like to see if there are mods for the games to apply more faithful translations, as I'd like to see what the intended tone of conversations / wording is (obviously a 1-to-1 translation isn't exactly achievable, but as close as possible) versus what we get in the official localization. At the same time, as @JeedyJay said, for most westerners, that more liberal approach to localization is what gives RGG it's charm. So I guess it really depends on which way you swing

It's also a really good translation for western players sure there is a bit that might get left out but your not going to be lost or confused and have a great time during it. Plus they way they handle the kansai dialect in english is 👌👌👌👌

I know what Sega and also some other Japanese companies like Bamco have said about having a global audience and what that entails, even though I don't agree with them and I'd rather they stick to making good games instead of pandering to a western audience and simply translate these games instead of their localization teams taking too many liberties (I'm dead tired of localizers at the moment and make me wish they'd shove off). But what exactly is in this game that's so bad? I've heard a lot of discontent over Infinite Wealth, but I have yet to discover anything particularly aggravating. Disclosure: I haven't played through the entire game yet (I'm in chapter 4 as of right now), but are there any really bad moments of "localizer takes things way too off-course regarding the translation into English"? If anyone would be so kind as to fill me in, I'd be grateful (maybe without spoiling anything important, if possible). This entire discourse has almost put me off enjoying this game and Tekken 8 to the fullest because of what was said. You can make of that what you will, I simply don't like this constant tampering with the dialogue, especially now that we know that most of these people are just shitty by default. If it's the "Oh no, Kasuga, you have said something sexist to Saeko" conversation: As a woman, I didn't even have this on the radar at all. I know people get wary whenever the word "sexist" gets mentioned, I get that, but I read this entire situation absolutely differently. Considering that this was said by Kasuga's male friends who have a painfully skewed understanding of dating women, I wouldn't put as much intention behind their words. Also, Saeko understood that he meant well and there wasn't nearly as much drama as Kasuga imagined there would be, even though he made things incredibly awkward. To be blunt, this is the thing I actually dislike: the fact that the plot revolved around Kasuga trying to date Saeko in the first place. Why did they have to write this in? This came out of nowhere for me, and I thought this to be the actual instance of bad writing by the game (all the other things click for me though).
