This is literally the exact same concept that made IDW's More than meets the eye comic book series so damn fantastic. Focusing on the characters and their relationships is some of the best Transformers content there is. And this show takes HEAVY inspiration from that series, specifically Megatron

⁠@@boredom7844 this version of Megatron (so far at least) takes a lot of inspiration from how the character was depicted in the 2005 IDW comics. He was a revolutionary who sought to free Cybertronians from an oppressive government. But he took things too far and believed that a forceful approach was needed to change their society, which resulted in the Great War that destroyed Cybertron. Eventually, he switched sides to the Autobots when Shockwave killed Bumblebee and was about to bend all of reality to his will. There’s a whole lot more that happened both before and after this happened. But I’d definitely check out those comics if you’re interested in finding out more about this Megatron. When it first came out almost 10 years ago, it was extremely controversial and fans worried that the writers would screw things up immensely. But what followed was one of the most incredible character arcs in comic book history (at least in my opinion).
