It's kind of crazy how many are discovering her now when she has been a gifted singer for 20 years. Thanks to Nightwish, Best of Zangers Tv show and pandemic forcing more reactions she is more famous and popular than ever. She is probably the most versatile singer in the world. She can sing any genre and kill it. It's just so great we have her in our lives to enjoy. Big fan.

Yes, she was and is an exceptionally giften singer, maybe the best in the world. But really, if you look at this and then think of the average CD (back then) buyer in the Netherlands. No, that did not match and it still would not match. I am happy that she now seems to have a quieter set list when whe sings in the Netherlands, and now, Joe Average appreciates her more.

Nightwish and particular Tuomas knew Floor Jansen’s capabilities from her period in After Forever and ReVamp, they shared the same record label and have been at the same festivals several times Knowing this, it's clear why Tuomas suggested asking Floor when the dilemma arose as to who could stand in for Anette when she couldn't act for health reasons.

Charlie - I have only heard one vocal coach on KZbin presume that she could teach Floor how to sing better. The performance was Ghost Love Score from Wacken 2013 - the legendary performance. It was quite comical, because she obviously had no idea who Floor is, how highly regarded she is in the Metal fraternity, and how many years she's been honing her craft. I felt embarrassed for the poor woman. Floor's the one who would be doing the coaching. 🤦

I have heard some mention it, it was more about how shaking the jaw loses points in the eyes of the singing gods when performing vibrato. It's like, yeah, you can sing great vibrato, but only the true greats can do it without jaw shake. Basically - elitism. It was never about the dangers of hurting her voice or anything like it. Can compare it to a great Olympic diver, many can dive beautifully, but can you dive beautifully with no splash? For me personally, I like seeing her jaw shake, it adds to the performance in my eyes, looks and feels more dramatic.

Just some useless info, I was figuring out age's of people & realised that in 2002 when Floor was performing this song her future husband was only 12 years old @ the time, wow crazy! Anyways, I'd love to recommend checking out Floor & her sister Irene singing, the song is called "Who I Am" : kzbin.info/www/bejne/hKfdYoSci76bfa8 TY for your analysis/reaction, all the best from New Zealand....

Rather surprised you keep commenting on her age. She was 16 when she joined what became After Forever in 1997.

The one thing that frustrates me about this song is that the strings are playing at a slower tempo _constantly._ You can almost feel the drummer's irritation.

I was going to point that out too. Classically trained string players can't groove. They follow the written time signature regardless of the actual rhythm.

Funny, I noticed this right before reading your comment. It really takes an otherwise great performance and makes it frustrating.

@@MorbidGuardian If I'm not mistaken, this problem exists even on other recordings of the song. Very, very frustrating (and I hope I'm wrong).

Currently Floor Jansen for me is the best singer of her musical genre, followed by Sharon den Adel from Within Temptation ❤

This was the first video I saw from AF when I was just a kid and loved it (except the off tempo strings), just amazing ♡ Btw, if you want to give a chance to a... let's say weird singing, you could try Chenille kzbin.info/www/bejne/f2rYpnmFfcxnh9U
