do you have any way on how to convert this into a roadbike? i have the same model of bike
@hamstergraphics5 ай бұрын
Just ride it on the road… really there’s no difference. Put slicker/narrower tires on if you need to
@Choccytube Жыл бұрын
As a mechanic I assume you do not get a lot of road bikes, just from your questioning of the brake calipers, they have been standard for about 5 years now.
@hamstergraphics Жыл бұрын
For sure, a couple of years ago I hadn't seen many like that, now much more familiar, but still don't work on a lot of road bikes. Prefer working on low end bikes

Ive been seeing a lot of these bikes on facebook, cant help but wonder if theyre comparable or better to similarly priced bikes.

To anyone who might consider buying this, Don't do it. I bought a V3 gravel frame from their official store recently. It's nothing what they advertised! The quality control was awful, handlebars did not fit the fork steerer (hole machined too small), internal routing through the fork didn't work (plastic routing tube was too long and obstructed the path), the wrinkles inside the frame were insane with loads of sharp edges, the upper bearing raise wasn't even (causing slight bearing play) and the amounts of epoxy residue inside the frame was really, really bad. They claim they use EPS mould but they clearly don't. I've seen a lot of frames, cheap and expensive, this was the worst I have seen by far. Full of wrinkles and sharp edges all over the place. The only good thing was it came with a T47 BB (as opposed to the BB86 they advertised). However they managed to spray the threads full of paint. Also there were small fibers and dirt in the clear coat at some places. It also weighs much more than advertised (mine was 1388g for the frame and 466g for the fork compared to 1090+450 as advertised). Will be making a video about it to help people stay away. I really can't recommend this frame to anyone unless they are sent a lucky sample. The one in the video seemed way better, so probably a KZbin special or luck.

Thanks for your feedback on these. It wasn't a KZbin special, I assemble these in Canada from the guy who imports them, if the customer requires assembly. No affiliation on my side.

I'm confused at what you mean by "handlebars didn't fit the fork steerer". Because I'm pretty sure a stem connects the steerer tube with the bars. Do you mean the stem doesn't fit the steerer tube? Or the stem doesn't fit the bar? Or do you have an integrated stem & handlebar and they don't fit the steerer?

I was looking forward to using this Bike. Once assembled, the rotor was rubbed against the brake pads. I took it to the Bike Shop, and they said it was missing a hub on the front Wheel. I managed to find the hub in the box with a cover on it. They packed the bike and forgot to put the hub on, so I just threw it in the box. Once the hub was on, it had the same problem, so I took it to the shop again. The shop said, "Tolerance between fork and brake mount causes rotor bolts to interfere with brake adapter. To solve this issue would involve modifying the brake mount adapter which is a safety liability. We will not work on this. It cannot be solved with a simple adjustment. Likely a new fork or a different brake mount adapter supplied by the manufacturer would solve this clearance issue." Twitter Bikes refuses to fix the problem and has gone AWOL. Buyer beware.

I've assembled a bunch of these (I have no affiliation but I do assemble them for a seller). The front brake calliper bolts can definitely be a pain to work with, they are often very tight and difficult to move. Having said that I've always managed to get them centred so there's no rubbing. Often the rotor is slightly bent and needs alignment also. Not sure what the missing hub is you talk of, but there is a part of the hub that comes off with the plastic shipping guard if you don't notice when you put the through axle onto the wheel. Hopefully you get it sorted. Where are you located?

@@RayHill1108 Try taking it to an independent bike mechanic, they are probably more likely to give it a shot than a shop who doesn't want to work on Chinese brand bikes. Like I said, I've always managed to get it to not rub, or very minimal, but I do agree they can be a pain.

hows the bike so far now? is it still okay? would you recommended for light xc trails? not going fast, just adventure trail riding, is it good?
@hamstergraphics3 жыл бұрын
This wasn’t my bike, I was just fixing it. I’m not sure the quality of Retrospec components.. seem good enough, I’d expect it to be good enough for light trails
