I think 1. I stopped using Twitter actively as soon as Musk bought it and changed its name, but I've signed in maybe a dozen times since then for various reasons. It's a wasteland. The new "For You" feed shows me endless memes--many of them short videos of violence--that I never asked for and never wanted to see, which reminds me of why I stopped using Facebook. These are evidently shown to people who don't want to see them because people pay to promote them or to subscribe to Twitter or whatever--they're paying, so Musk is giving people what they don't want to see. I've seen way too many pro-Trump videos in the "For You" tab, which shows two notable things: One, that the For You algorithm is an absolute failure, as that's the last kind of message I ever want to see, and two, that Twitter has really become overrun by MAGA Nazis since Musk bought it, which I'm certain was his design. And then...yeah, lots and lots and lots of XXX OnlyFans bait. Which I really never saw when I actively used Twitter. Now, it's just mixed in with the violent videos and the MAGA videos. And that is really disappointing, even depressing, to me. A sex-positive movement came along and got people used to the idea that there's nothing wrong with consensual adult relations, even when explicitly shown. Twitter has now mixed that content in with violent videos and white supremacist, anti-democracy videos--the absolute worst the Internet and human nature have to offer--and so the three are inextricably associated.
