Charlie (the buyer) suggested $500. Alan (broker/negotiator) instructed the dealer to "split the difference" (500÷2= 250), that is to be added to the suggested price, for a total of $750. The dealer (Jake) cost both of them $500, that Charlie was happy to save. After the broker's fee, Jake was lucky if he had $100 left.

Yep. You can't read between people ears all the time but reading between the lines can often prove to be quite accurate. In other words the official story is rarely the whole story and often it's a complete story front to back lacking anything based on truth at all.
