Hello Greg, I just wanted to write this here. Sorry for the length. My father passed away a few weeks ago, somehow we stumbled upon one of your videos for the 30 day survival challenge and we both became instant fans. The scenery, honesty, integrity, and get out there and try it attitude you brought gave us immense entertainment and joy. Dad was an outdoorsmen all of his life, having to live and work in the city but still holding the constant urge, and need, to venture out and be drawn in by the wilderness, particularly anywhere near an ocean or sea. Over the years, as life became more and more busy, we went fishing less and trips to the wilderness went from every few weeks to none in many years, well at-least for me, see dad managed to stay around greenery for his work, and also was lucky enough to work right near a beautiful river where he would often tell of the pure joy of taking off his shoes and letting the blades of grass massage between his toes, as he laid back and relaxed with some lunch while watching the brilliance of water as the sun sets upon it. Anyway, as we both watched your newest videos each week together (Saturday afternoon for us in Australia) it not only brought us entertainment, but bonded us ever closer as we would reminisce about all of our past adventures, and plan ever more in the future. He really loved your plant videos, edible plants, useful plants etc and that one where you made a liner for a winter coat made him smile too ha ha, I think you and him would be kindred spirits, men of the land, who truly appreciate the little things. As I type this I am sad now realising that I will not get to go on any more adventures with him in person, and also regret all the times we could have spent if only I took the time in recent years. Work and money are not the be all and end all in life, cherish the people you love as well as the time you spend together. I know he will be with me in spirit for all time, he is in my mind, my heart, my soul and my spirit, and I look forward to going on more adventures with him guiding me... I also look forward to watching more of your adventures. Thank you for all of the fun you brought me and my father, and here's to more living the way you want. Thank you Greg. Regards, Scott.

I was on a brush pile on Haida Gwaii when a huge black bear started looking for me. He could smell me but not see me. I threw chunks of wood, fired my 22 in front of him and yelled like crazy. He just kept coming to the base of the brush pile. I took out my knife and prepared for what would have come next and then something just said to my brain, bark like a big dog. So I did...and my impression must have been bang on cause he stopped cold and high tailed it back where he came from. Glad you have your defender with you Greg; I stagger my loads with double O buck and slugs. Stay safe man!
