I come from a family of generation long apple farmers in south Santa Cruz county, CA. The place where MARTINELLI's Apple Juice comes from. We have always had/have Cat D2's/D4's.. The orchard models. As a kid, International TD6. the real beast. We need them every Spring to get through the mud. We had one that was a dedicated dozer, just like yours, but an orchard model.

I once owned 2 D-2s (5J) one was with a bulldozer like yours and the other was a Traxcavator. They were within 100 numbers of each other 1947 I believe. Really good machines. Pretty good for pioneering if you were patient.

Always a treat to see what these Cats are able to accomplish when they're operated by competent guys like yourselves! My uncles & maternal grandfather were experts in this line of work, as well as 2 of my younger uncle's offspring...to a combined total of almost 100 years in the business! These are skills to be proud of & admired.

Ah HAH! Number 2 notch! Sounds like Pop0s tractor's hydraulics were complaining somewhat. My Sea Bee Uncles D-4 had a blasted paper filter inside the tank that would break down and clog everything up Sorry filter and a Cat filter too. But it's still going, just like those. It had a Hyster D4D winch on it. Came with D-6 jacks and he changed it over to a single like a Euc had. Wasn't slow after that, had plenty of power and had a spare cylinder. Thanks Toby and Pop! Job well done!
@lewiemcneely91436 жыл бұрын
'Fraid it does. Hope the blasted thing hasn't disintegrated on you. They get where they won't lift anything so I don't think it;s gone that far. Almost sounds like a strainer is clogged about up with the pump whining on the upstroke and not any other time. I know yall will set it right, no doubt, along with #1 notch in the A/C. Thanks, Toby! Sure is good to see 2 Kitties out playing in the dirt!.

The shorter the track length or the wheel base in say a small tractor against a road maintainer/grader the more difficult to prevent porpoising, speed probably has something to do with it too. You guys did great , you got it done in the end. If you had a drag it might finish it more evenly , but the grounds going to continue to settle and it does not have to be a putting green .
