I am sorry, I loved Matthew Perry. He will always be a part of the collective consciousness of probably everyone. His death was tragic because ultimately He decided to take a bunch of substances. Regardless of where they came from or who was selling, he decided to use. That isn’t anyone else’s fault.

As a former addict, and 30 years sober, addiction is bad, but nobody forced him to take more drugs. That’s why it’s a disease. The addict takes that chance of dying every time they use.

Best wishes in your recovery. 🙂 Would you not say though that certain people or situations can lead you to choose to relapse? Like the person in your life who has always been a trigger or something traumatic happening to you? I understand accountability in recovery. ~ But, I do think that there has to be something or a number of things combined happening at the same time that would lead to a relapse or, as you said, your choice in having a drink (and in all likelihood more than one). ~ For example, I quit smoking for 6 years. 1994 was the worst year of my life, even 30 years later. I didn't start smoking again after the first horrible thing happened. I did after the fourth and final one did.

Matthew Perry fought addictions his entire life. He worked to help others with their addictions. Shut it and let the man rest in peace. He had coronary artery disease to name one thing that contributed to his death. His heart stopped and he drowned. Leave it at that. Why do people always feel the need to run someone down after they die. IF, and that is huge if, Matthew was murdered, let the investigation run and stop with the conjecture and conspiracy theory crap.

STDs are shameful. Obesity related diseases are shameful. Anything acquired by one’s own doing can be considered shameful. Unless the victim was forced, tricked, or was a victim of unfortunate circumstances (like developing an opioid addiction as a result of an accident or injury), there is some shame associated with this disease. Because no one made me do it. I did this to myself. I went out and got this disease, knowing what could happen.

Cystic Fibrosis is a disease. A person hasnt engaged in an activity to bring this disease out. Addiction happens because a person CHOSE to take a substance or alcohol. Calling addiction a disease is incorrect. chosen act. Humans aren't born with addiction unless a mother consumes drugs or alcohol during pregnancy.

Andy I think you misspoke when you said if Matthew relapsed it is shameful. I think you should have said if he relapsed it's a shame. Drug addiction and alcohol addiction is an illness and going into rehab doesn't always work if the source that drove a person to turn to drugs and alcohol is not removed. It sounds like he sadly had enablers instead of supporters.

as much as I love Matthew Perry, as much as his death is so so sad; he is a grown man capable of making his own choices; good or bad. I'm sure everyone in freaking Hollywood swaps meds, doctors and everything else. Unless someone forced him to swallow them, or gave it to him without his knowledge, no-one else is to blame. I can't see how this is nothing more than an accidental overdose that unfortunately led to his death. I would hope that others will learn a lesson, but sadly they probably won't Rest in Peace Matthew.

sadly, this situation has been going on for decades. Celebrities are in the care of medical professionals and are prescribed the latest greatest and it appears to be working so they want to try to find it on the side. we all know there are people willing and able to get it illegally and supply it to their so-called friends. I would also caution anyone who thinks that retaining a lawyer, after being asked by the police to come in for some type of questioning, to be wrong. The first thing any citizen in the United States of America, should do if they are asked to come in for questioning is to contact an attorney to represent them. After watching dateline for the last 30 years, I would never walk into a formal police interview without an attorney present regardless.

Yes, his step-dad is Keith Morrison and yes he is an investigative reporter however, take that all away and he was a stepparent whose son tragically died. I’m sure he and his wife want answers as to HOW Matthew got the Ketamine. Wouldn’t you? If you have the ability to investigate and get to a dealer, then that dealer and if someone delivered them to Matthew off the streets. Not only do you have your answers, you were able to hold someone accountable for giving him the drugs. At the very same time, you’ve just made it harder for someone else to purchase the drugs and thus possibly saving a life.

Some drugs are illegal. If you participate in supplying said drugs, You Broke the Law. In doing so someone lost their life. If I take a depressed person a stolen firearm, he/she uses it to murder others.. I'm probably going to be held accountable in some capacity. Addiction is not shameful. Shame is what keeps the addiction alive. It is what keeps the addict from seeking help. I also despise the term junkie. It is degrading to a person who already feels worthless. We can erase so many words from our language but junkie is ok? No, no it is not. Brooke is a hot mess. Charlie, same. Obviously Matthew had issues of his own. Removing addicts need to remove themselves from users lives. Crazy thing is all of these individuals are well over 40. When does a person say enough, I alone am responsible for getting clean. Robert Downey did it as have many others. Famous or not your 2 choices are get clean or die early.

Gotta stop blaming everybody but the addict. Addicts seek drugs and willingly purchase and use them. Nobody forces drugs on an addict. I know, I have been clean for four years. My family tried to blame everyone but me. I used drugs on my own, it started by being over medicated by my Doctors. They didn't force them down my throat. They did, however, refuse to help when I asked for it. They shut the door in my face. It's the lack of help that is the problem. The places out there to get help are unaffordable for most people and even the expensive help centers are horrible. They treat addicts like garbage and don't really do much to help. I had to save myself! Thank God I did!!

This is such a gross opinion. You don't know any of this. And taking ketamine for depression means nothing. I don't believe he lied. I do however believe he really struggled with depression. Some things like Ketamine are easy to overdose on especially with health conditions prevalent. If he tried to get extra doses, he may have just really been struggling and it wasn't working good enough for him. I do think that the Ketamine and other script meds contributed to his heart giving out.

It was on the net today his estate was work 1.5 million aside from some trust but it was made to appear he had spent many riches from his million per episode "Friends" days. Ridiculous. MP was a drug addict. He told the medication willingly by his own hand. If the person who supplied the drugs then every overdose person must have a person who supplied them with the drugs be put on trial. The US Government must be put on trial for allowing illegal drugs pouring over our borders without any consequences or interference! I do not like Sheen but do not believe that he is responsible for MP taking the drugs WITH THE INTENT OF GETTING HIGH! Start applying the law to everyone not just individuals who may or may not have assisted in someone’s death whom everyone liked.
