Comme j'adore ce concerto. et dire que ma soeur l'a déjà joué..elle n'avait que 11 ans lors de sa 1er représentation..puis elle l'a joué pour la dernière fois le 11 février et c'était enfin avec un prof. j'avoue qu'ici c'est vraiment très bien joué et c'est assez rapide! ^^

You could contact the publisher and rent it...or if you have a music teacher that knows where to buy orchestra music, you could just ask him. If your playing for a professional group, then try with the first option

They're right. I've performed this song as first cello. I like how at 2:00 the conductor practically stomps his foot so hard you can hear it.

Watch carefully the use of harmonics at 2:38-2:45. This helps them get to the thumb position at 2:45-2:57. Not a lot of teachers or books have this finger in and I tried it yesterday, it's an awesome fingering. Dig in a little nearer the bridge and you get a pretty nice effect... get some spirocore strings ;)

Are you sure you've played this, it's just you called it a 'song'. Anyway, the Haydn C concerto is really popular because ... it just is, there aren't that many cello concertos and it's one of the best ones and it's just great. The third movement is the hard one, and the one I'm learning now.

I actually think they are correct. The chords that are played can seem rather off at times, but after listening to it a few times I think that they're in tune.

This fingering is recommended in the edition I have (ed. Starker). I think the effect on the arpeggios is neat, but I think the "ornamented octaves" passage suffers too much unless it is played on the D and A strings (rather than the G and D strings, as in this performance). It's a bit trickier to get it set up, but it's worth the effort since the sound is so much brighter and the effect is far more brilliant.

this concerto is not very difficult, itsw just fast, but compared to other vivaldi concertos easy. watch the concertos han-na chang plays^^ but it´s not important whether this piece is difficult or not, its JUST EXTRAORDINARY BEUTIFUL!

Yo-Yo Ma recorded a great rendition of it on the album 'Vivaldi's Cello', along with two other cello concertos and some other pieces. It's fantastic, except that the production really bothers me - the mixer didn't pan the cellos separately, which bothers me because the beauty of the piece is seeing how intricately the cellos parts are connected, and its harder to hear that when they're panned together.... Other than that, though, it sounds superb.

I feel the first movement is a little too fast as well. Not that it makes it hard to hear some notes, but there's this "heartbeat" to baroque music that got lost. The third movement was fine, just that the players got off tempo at times.
