Imagine drawing up multiple plays that uses the same motions presnap to confuse defenders instead of telling them the play.

This shows that Sully and Faulkner know how the scheme plays. Kudos to Pat Meyer for the run concepts. This team does look much better from a schematic standpoint.

I think a major, not talked enough difference over the last few games is the number of snaps where the QB is under center instead of in shotgun. This, alone, creates more opportunities to run and gives players like Najee opportunities to get up right to the line with a full head of steam instead of being forced to constantly dance around the perimeter. I feel like Canada's scheming was way, way too shotgun heavy, so...it's nice to see that it's kind of readjusted a bit, especially in the Rudolph stretch. But yeah - great breakdown of the film, Alex!

We need this type of push all game this week if we want a shot at winning
@williambradford90065 ай бұрын
The reason why Najee is running that ball better in that scheme..It's giving him a full back-in-front-of-him type of feel.He needs to reed running lanes off of as he did in college..Being a downfield runner

Washington especially! Him, Isaac Seumalo and Broderick Jones have been THE primary reasons for the successful run game. Can't wait to see their continued chemistry next year, will be a top 5 unit next year.

Thanks Alex. Great vid. What u r showing and Steelers are finally doing are those subtle changes to stay unpredictable- exactly what Canada wasn’t doing. This is just 1 of many changes our boys needed to make to get where they are. Again thanks for the film breakdown and commentary.

Najee seems to have much more enthusiasm to run hard when he knows he can get 3 or 4 yards before getting tackled. I would be the same way
@rikkihodgins36135 ай бұрын
Just takes a sec for him to build up speed if you don’t think any good rb has that you wrong tho leveon had like 5 yards of free space most the time as a o line you gotta get you’re rb to the next level then they can do there work jalen speed helps him out najee is big af

Great Tape Alex!! Really cool the way way they have been doing that wrinkle with "Mueth" acting like a pass drawing the defender away! If they start leaving him go ,thinking run, then he is wide open for a nice gain too! Thanx Alex, for all your hard work this year!! Hopefully you will have a few more weeks of it!!

I think it works well because the Steelers run more plays with the QB under center now. With Mason having an appetite for the deep passing game, it keeps the safeties playing more to protect against long ball. Using the same formations and motions for running and passing plays prevents the defense from recognizing the play sooner.

You hit it best when you say it gives this team options the biggest being play action. If I am the Steelers, I would line up in the exact same first formation, fake to Harris and go over the top to DJ or Pickens on a post or have Muth perform a wheel route based on the flare motion.

It really is sad that Canada just didn't use our tight ends in the pass game. Just making them a threat opens up so much. Been pleasantly surprised with the Sullivan/Faulkner team so far

I'd lean toward Eddie Faulkner implementing these wrinkles in the run game. Afterall, he is the OC now.

It's a collaboration but the o-line coach has traditionally been in charge of run scheme. And Mason Rudolph has credited him multiple times postgame.
@klrs85255 ай бұрын
Theres some monster DLineman in the playoffs. Will be interesting to see if the run still works against good DLine and better LB. More than nervous we are about to rocket back down to earth, unless we can exploit those Friermuth releases!

This is my issue with our backs especially Najee. They don’t have patience or vision. That play is design to follow Conner’s block. Najee fumbled but he was still was not going to follow Conners block. The hole was there but being filled by the safety, which is what you want your back against the saftey in the hole or the open field. Your back should win that match up for a big gain or at least get a positive gain. With an L Bell type runner (shifty RB) that could have potentially made the Safety miss the tackle that’s a big gain. On the second play example with Warren look at the huge hole Warren missed by not following Conners lead block. That would have been a significant gain. It’s something I consistently see watching the games and reviewing the All 22. These guys consistently miss holes they don’t run with patience or vision. The running game could even better with better RBs.
