Nice sounding horns. How does the Scodwell compare to Adams A5?

Great question! The A5 is a pretty lightweight trumpet with a large bell. Trent Austin says the Adams A5 is a cross between a Benge and a Calicchio. I've never had a Calicchio so I can't say... The Adams A5 I had really impressed me, but certainly for more of a lead horn. The blow was a bit big for me (a bit too open - I'm NOT a big wind guy), but it was a fun horn to play. The Scodwell that I have is much more of an all-around horn, I believe. Tony may have a Carol bell on this horn, and frankly I think it could be the bell that's on the Carol 7770; except that bell is VERY lightweight, and this bell is fairly heavy. Again, I really like the smaller bell on a trumpet (my choice of Strad's is the 25 [the smallest Strad bell], or the 43). I really liked the two Carol 7770's I had, but with this heavier gauge brass in the small bell size, I think Tony has a tremendous idea; a horn that is easy to fill but with its heavier bell it will handle all the volume one can give it. It's one of the most intriguing horns I've had. Again - great question. :)
