The Hilton Lakes hike going up Hilton Creek is a good hike you can do between seasons. Its just west of Crowley Lake on the south side of Mt. Morgan (North).

The National Monument close to Mammoth Lakes is called Devil’s Postpile Nat’l Monument. And, the peak rising above Crystal Lake is Crystal Crag (which is a popular climbing spot). One moderate, but gorgeous, hiking area I like to visit when I’m in Mammoth is Little Lakes Valley, which lies is at end of Rock Creek Canyon. However, it’s a good idea to be somewhat acclimated to the altitude, as the trailhead lies at ~10K-ft. ll be heading over to Mammoth from my home in the SF Bay Area in the middle of October; I’m hoping the aspens and other foliage is on full autumnal display by then.
