So basically, even if they know your password they can never get into your account because they wouldn’t have access to 1. Knowing you’re phone number 2. getting the verification code ? This video was very helpful & detailed. ! 🎉
@Learnwithjoel Жыл бұрын
Hi @RoseRamirezz! Yes, but it's really about having your cell phone, not just knowing the phone number. Two lines or security. One is knowing your password, the second is having a physical device like your cell phone or another trusted device that gets the verification code sent to it to get in. Thank you Joel, great tutorial! I'm not sure if i miss anything, but if someone steals my phone when i' m in a bar for example, how can i login to my account via friends phone browser, to report my phone as stolen? Do i have to access to my mac or my ipad? What if my only apple device is an iphone, or i'm on vacation without my other apple devices?
@Learnwithjoel Жыл бұрын
Fantastic question @georgevrontakis1106! This does present a completely different issue. With a stolen or lost phone, you do have a few options...but it's never guaranteed you'll get a device back if it's stolen or lost. I don't believe there's anyway to report a phone stolen to Apple or the authorities without calling them directly and even them, I would guess chances are slim getting it back with their assistance. Your best bet would be to put your iPhone in Lost mode using the Find My feature. To do this, like you suggested, you could use a friends phone browser and sign into iCloud.com You would obviously need to know your credentials. After you sign in successfully, you'll notice that below the option to type a verification code, it says: "If you can't enter a code because you've lost your device, you can use Find Devices to locate it or Manage Devices to remove your Apple Pay cards from it" From there, you have two choices to either go to "Find Devices" or "Manage Devices". The Find Devices link will take you to Find My, where you can put your device in Lost Mode, make it ring, and also pop a custom message on the screen. With the other link for Mange devices, you would be able to deactivate Apple Pay credit cards on the devices it's enabled on, and that's about it. So long story short, you really do need a trusted device to access all of your information, otherwise you will limited with access. I highly recommend to get familiar with the Find My features and Lost Mode. I think this may be a good tutorial to make next. I'll post some helpful Apple Support links below for reference: Find your lost iPhone or iPad with Find My support.apple.com/en-us/HT201472 Find your lost Apple device or AirTag with Find My support.apple.com/en-us/HT210515#markaslost I hope that helps! Hello, can you tell me,how to turn off that damn two-factor authentication? 🤔
@VukyMonster18 күн бұрын
I think you only get 30 days to turn it off, -you have to use the email you got when you turned it on, and there is a link on that email to turn it off. I hate it too. And it can be life ruining, especially when you have an Apple Comp and a Samsung phone. The code should send to email AND text, AND other Apple devices, not everyone has an iPhone.

My issue is that I have a Samsung phone, and an iMac comp and kids with iPads. I would like to share my passwords over my devices, but for some reason you can't without dang 2-factor, which is a nightmare, because I don't have Apple 2 devices with me travelling, I have my Samsung cell and my kids iPad. It will ask to check my other device for the code and then I'm stuck with a useless Apple iPad for the rest of the trip. WHY doesn't it send the code to EMAIL, TEXT and "other Apple device" to cover all bases? Then I can always unlock it with my phone, or on my yahoo email account. Why does it assume everyone has many apple devices, and always an iPhone? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you !
@Learnwithjoel18 күн бұрын
Hi @VukyMonster! So if the iPads are only getting the notification prompt with the 6 digit passcode, that means you probably need to add your cell phone number as a trusted device to the Apple Account that is signed into the main settings on the iPads. You should absolutely be able to get text messages as an alternative for the codes, although it's not very intuitive. My other question is what are they signing into on the iPads that they prompts them for 2FA? My 4 kids all have iPads and unless they're signing into a non trusted website associated with Apple, it doesn't ask. Thank you so much for taking your time to watch this video! I signed out of my apple id to log into another one of mine. When i tried to log back into my original apple id, i saw the 2 step authentication for the first time and it said it sent my phone a code. Thing is, i never recieved a code so i asked for a new code and still never recieved it. I kept on asking and asking until it no longer sent me any codes. Now it’s telling me to use the last code i got sent EVEN THOUGH i never recieved any in my imessages to begin with. i can’t get a verification code from my apple id because im not logged in. but i also need it to log in?!????!

Thank you for that very clear video. If someone got into your phone, couldn't they just click "didn't get code" and ask for an sms code and get into your accounts? It seems like all of this is only as good as your lock code. I know I usually use my fingerprint but sometimes that doesn't work, and if it doesn't then I need a lock code.

What can I do to further protect my Apple ID if I keep getting text messages sending Apple account code
@Learnwithjoel2 ай бұрын
Hi @steve_2157! I would say that if you keep getting the 2-Factor Authentication codes to your device, that probably means that someone has your password. I would change it immediately! That's the beauty of Multi-Factor Authentication methods...it's sending you the code to your personal device to verify it's actually you. If that wasn't on, it would allow people to sign in without you knowing if they have your password. I hope that helps! Thank you so much for taking your time to watch this video. It is greatly appreciated! If this video has been helped you, I would be honored if you would consider sharing it with your social media network and expressing your gratitude for its assistance. Hi Joel. An amazing video. 🙏🏻 I have a question: 1.After hard resetting our phone, will the code still be sent to our device when we try to log in to Apple ID? 2.What happens if it comes to our phone number, (not the device), and the message is not delivered to us? I'm worried about after the hard reset thing. :(

Great video. Here's a question: will be moving overseas in the near future, and thus my phone number will change. Is it safe to disable 2FA so as to not send messages to my phone, since that number will no longer be active? Figured that I'd be caught in a loop with 2FA active, since Apple would be sending messages to an number that is no longer active.

Thank you for your video, will I be notified if someone would just be trying to type in my password and if the password is wrong? And what message would he get? Would he know that I have the two factor authentication and what devices I have? Thankj you, happy safe days
@LearnwithjoelАй бұрын
Great question @a.darling5713! This is the beaut of 2-Factor Authentication. Even if someone knows your password, they still need a second form of authentication to access your account. So if someone was trying to log into your account with the wrong password, you would not get any notification or message. On their end, they would get a message saying that the password or username was incorrect. Now I do believe that if someone tries a password too many times with too many failed attempts, it has potential to temporarily lock the account. Because you know the password you would be fine, but that could discourage someone from trying too many times. I'll link some Apple Support articles below for reference: If your Apple Account is locked, not active, or disabled support.apple.com/en-us/102640 Apple ID security overview support.apple.com/guide/security/apple-id-security-secbd5822138/web Passcodes and passwords support.apple.com/guide/security/passcodes-and-passwords-sec20230a10d/web Thank you so much for taking your time to watch this video! No, in order to reset your Apple ID password you only need to know your login and pin of ANY of your trusted devices. In other words if a bad actor knows your email and the pin of any of your Apple devices (except watch) you may be locked of your Apple ID account forever, please research more.
