Caroline Greenman As far as Britain killing natives I was referring mostly to the empire which he can in the 1500s, roughly 500 years ago. Stolen ideas? We've given much more in the way of ideas than we've taken. And with the exception of Monty python, British humor doesn't translate to any other country very well. I saw I appreciate the sarcasm in the comments above but self depreciation, I didn't see any of that. The statement that I replied to was an ignorant, Hate filled rent that needed answering.

It seems that some have taken Ms. Wright literally with the girdle/griddle comment. Scots don't say "girdle" either. Her remark about Americans and Scots is a jab at those with differing accents. These lady's attitudes reflect an earlier time when people could poke fun at each other and not get offended, before today's PC police were lurking about every corner waiting to pounce.

Huevos Rancheros is my favorite! I have it when I go out to brunch with my parents sometimes. I have a friend in Mexico, and she usually has it without the chili peppers and just plain salsa. I tried it with chili peppers one time when I first tried it, and it was too spicy for me! I'll think of you Clarissa the next time I eat it! Rest in peace to you and Jennifer! We miss you ladies!

In Asia, we soak the kidneys in brine and swap out the water 2 or 3 times to get rid of the taste, blanch and then stir fried in sesme oil, wine and ginger, done correctly it tastes firm and takes on the flavour of whatever you fried it with.
