I was the guy that said, "Is that your raptor over there?". We could have made it a quick and easy recovery, but the owner rudely told us to no. Funniest part was his tire pressure was at street level! Lol. Glad you guys were able to help!!!

The rules to stay alive in the desert are always carry enough water for at least 3 days more than you intend to stay for each person and/or dog in the vehicle. Never go into the desert with less than 3 vehicles. A second vehicle can easily get stuck helping the first one that is stuck or broken. Also, if you do go into the desert by yourself, you are foolish but if you do, never leave your vehicle if stuck. More importantly, remember that EVERYONE gets stuck one time or another. No one is immune regardless of your vehicle or how well you think you drive. One more thing; if you want to go into the desert, you take a Land Rover, if you want to come back out, you take a Landcruiser.😉

That load of guys wrestling with that jeep reminded me of a class trip I was on back in high school. There was a neon stuck in a ditch up in the Adirondacks where we were going camping for a week at a pretty scary angle nearly rolling over. There were 8 of us strapping younglings in the van and we stopped to help them out. 4 of us went down into the ditch and lifted/pushed from the side and 4 more on the back pushing from behind and we got it out no sweat and nobody run over. We were talking to the family after we got them out and they said they were actually scared, then surprised as they thought we might have been a gang of bad people happening upon an easy target of opportunity! I can probably imagine the feeling... this was back in 2002 and cell phones were not a common thing yet and definitely did not have coverage way out in the mountains so picturing myself sitting there with my spouse and kid in that situation wondering what to do and suddenly a huge van rolls up and 8 young burly guys jump out and group up outside your car to talk to you out of the blue probably would freak me out too. I wish we did had a camera with us because that was pretty wild. They didn't even get out of the car while waiting for someone with a way to call for help to come by out of fear of rolling the car over. None of us back then even really considered or cared that we might have had a car roll over and flatten us, we just jumped out and lifted and pushed them out. Glad it was a tiny car and we were the power-fit class!

If you’re raised right when someone is in trouble that’s your number one priority and you do whatever you have to do even if it involves putting your self at risk I was raised to give the shirt off your back and if someone needs help you help them but sadly most people aren’t raised that way these days and are only interested in doing something if it benefits them

We use the same principle exactly in the Canadian winter if we're going to go out and play. Bring enough to get you through to lunch the next day in -20C. And yes, there are plenty who don't. Careful in the city too. True story in Ottawa. An older woman slipped on the ice _20 feet from her apartment building door in mid-town_ and fell into a snow bank during a snow storm and froze to death. So much snow fell that night there was no sign she was there and she was listed as missing and of course the the snow clearing just threw more and more snow onto the bank as usual. They found her months later during the spring melt. Don't take Mother Nature for granted. :-/

Grew up in the Desert in SoCal, airing down makes a world of a difference, had a 1996 Powerstroke F350 with Yokohama Geolanders, air down to about 10-15 psi, that thing would go ALMOST anywhere you wanted it to, now it wasn’t no major dune climber, but airing down does make a world of a difference

I live in Arizona. Came here in 1951 at age five. If you get lost in this type of climate, STAY WITH YOUR VEHICLE! If you leave populated areas, take plenty of water with you. My parents kept a two gallon canvas bag on the front o the car at all times when we left out home to go somewhere. I once asked my mother for a drink. She said suck a pebble. She grew up on the desert.

Any vehicle with the same weight distribution and tires would have been stuck the same way. There is nothing magical about the Jeep or the Raptor when it comes to traction. You can have the toughest, most powerful truck around but if your tires are spinning you're cooked.
@TheFunnyman12334 жыл бұрын
Simple fact is, those people with a 75k truck have the money to afford the banana. Neither of them are worried. Their next purchase will be an xj and still get it stuck.
@JohnnieWalkerDread4 жыл бұрын
@MegaSkilla Aren't we being a tad judgmental? They didn't destroy the truck. They simply got it stuck. They are not the first people to ever get their vehicles stuck because they made a mistake in judgment.

Matt you nailed it! Stay with your damn vehicle unless there is something truly life threatening, which I have never saw but just being realistic. And that isn't just in the desert Southwest! In 1978/79 winter it was a ton of snow in Sept that didn't go away in much of WY and then brutal cold! It was 52 below in Riverton WY one night in a brutal stretch of bad weather that didn't see above zero for a couple of weeks. 3 teenage boys decided to go rabbit hunting!!?? Their pickup got stuck and died out in the country which they were familiar with. There was a farm/ranch house they could easily see within a 1/4 of a mile. 2 of the boys decided they would walk to the house and get help. The 3rd boy said, "No, Dad always told me if we got stranded to stay with the truck." The next day the Search and Rescue found the truck and the young man that stayed alive with frostbite but doing ok. They found the other 2 boys about 300 yards from the truck almost to the house. Due to them already being cold and fighting the deep snow, breathing in that brutal cold it froze their lungs! Not that everyone survives in the vehicle but way better chances for sure! Stay with your vehicle.
