Once you get into Chris Cornell, you'll come to realize that very few if any rock singers compete with him. Emotion, range, talent, lyrics and versatility, he may be unmatched. Sure, there were rock singers who had a higher range, maybe better stage presence or were better song writers, but to check all of the aforementioned boxes, I think Chris stands alone. I encourage you to dive into his catalog because it is simply a transcendent experience.
@markuse34722 жыл бұрын
Eddie Vedder, Axel Rose, James Hetfield, Scott Weiland, Janis Joplin, Dolores O'Riordan, Billy Corgan, Caleb Followill, Chester Bennington, Rob Thomas, and likely others, can check off all those boxes, too. And just because others have been better overall singers than these, in holding the range and notes high and low longer, it doesn't mean they didn't posses what you say likely Cornell may be unmatched at. Bruce Dickenson, Robert Plant, David Coverdale, Corey Taylor, Michael Sweet, Eric Adams, and likely more, can surely challenge your statement (or were able to) on stage live. And, I am assuming you meant the famous singers and I'll leave it at that (because the list is longer).
@dt0892 жыл бұрын
@@markuse3472 Lmao stop it. Reread my comment because you completely missed my point...Yeah, I'm sure Billy Corgan is on Cornell's level. Wow

Chris Cornell was a tormented soul. Even though ha had all these phenomenal abilities going for him. Obviously a very good looking man, excellent singer, excellent songwriter, musician and successfull bands. Soundgarden and Audioslave mainly. He did a couple of solo albums as well and did the temesong to the James Bond movie Casino Royale. He wrote several songs about depression and longing for life to end. Check out Audioslaves Fell on black days or Black hole sun. Great songs sung by a tormented man. He ended his own life May 18th 2017. 52 yo. Such a tragedy. He left behind a wife and two daughters.

Great reaction -- you helped me understand it better. Yes, a lot of emotion. Guys here in this band coming from a couple of the biggest bands of the '90s -- singer Chris Cornell from Soundgarden, guitarist from Rage Against the Machine, Harvard graduate Tom Morello. You picked up really well on the important aspects -- a unique voice, a darkness, a sadness, a cool guitar sound, and a nice melody. Thanks.

Chris Cornell, the lead singer of this band, and two others (Soundgarden, and Temple of the Dog), died alone. He committed suicide in his hotel room after a show. He suffered from depression, and drug addiction for much of his adult life, and that fact is reflected in his lyrics, music, and vocals. The tone, feeling, pain and sorrow in his voice is authentic because he was living it most of the time. The saddest thing about this is that he was so talented and unique, and probably had many more years of great music in him when he died. We will never get to hear that music, but we will always have what he did up to that point to remember him by. If you really want to hear more of the soul of Chris Cornell, try listening to "Say Hello to Heaven", "Nothing Compares to U", "Just Like Suicide", or "The Last Remaining Light". These are some of my favorites, but his entire catalog is pretty amazing. There will never be another like him. RIP Chris Cornell.

Chris is considered, and rightfully so, the greatest voice of my (gen X) generation. He was originally with Soundgarden and teamed up with Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam as "Temple of the dog" as well. Audio slave is actually "Rage against the machine" without the original lead singer Zacarías de la Rocha (which was another awesome group). Chris has a ton of music you should look into as well. His cover of "nothing compares to you" and "Billie jean" (both live) are incredible. RIP Chris.
