OMG....this song brings back so many memories for me. One would be when I was a teen. I was dating someone and in time, we broke up. The guy I dated would then call and play this song over the phone to me, wanting me back. YOUNG LOVE...LOL! JOURNEY is still one of my favorite bands. Known later on in the 80's for their love ballads. Steve Perry is another singer I admire for his vocal range. He was amazing in the band. He then went solo and had a few hits. That was tremendous! The enjoyment from you both was palpable, clear. Great humor as well. :-) You pick up the lyrics quickly. I love Journey and, yes, Steve Perry has a unique voice, a great voice. They were based in San Francisco. Steve eventually left but they had a good four or five albums with him. “Separate Ways” is one of my favorites. Here’s another one that is from the first album with Steve Perry 5 years earlier. It’s two songs that go right into each other that I’ve always loved, “Feeling that Way/Anytime”. I’m sure your parents know them. The keyboard player also sings and you will hear him and Steve in the first song. A Midnight Special performance from 1978, hopefully it won’t get blocked. 1 of the very greatest male vocalist of all time. And Neil, the guitarist has been playing professionally since his very early teens n is a beast. All of journeys musicians are top of their craft. Journey is a great band. They use to have two lead vocalists in the band. The other one was Gregg Rolie. He was also the Keyboard player before Jonathan Cain (who is the keyboard player you just watched in the video). Both Gregg Rolie and the lead guitarist Neal Schon played together in the band Santana before they formed Journey. The drummer Steve Smith is a very nice guy. I met him in person at a drum clinic. You two do a great job. It always looks and sounds like you're having a party. Especially the laughing in the intro. I keep waiting for balloons to come out of the screen.

Plenty of the best Journey songs/videos are best live on "Journey Live in Houston 1981." Some of the songs are on KZbin individually, or the concert in its entirety. Steve Perry is known as "The Voice." My very first rock concert was on this 1981-1982 Escape tour (for their Escape album) the year before Separate Ways came out on their Frontiers album. I'm 52 and a HUGE Journey fan! If you like, I can likely answer Journey questions.
