I was at this very concert. I was 18 at the time, so it is imprinted on my mind. The previous day we camped in a field outside the fenced off arena. Late at night there were rumours that the gates were going to be opened that night rather than in the morning, so we stood by the gates for hours until they finally let us in at around 2am. We then slept in front of the stage in just our sleeping bags under the stars. In the morning we were woken by the P.A. system playing Supertramp's 'Take the long way home'. If I remember correctly, Led Zeppelin came on stage really late and finished around 1am. All in all, an amazing experience for an 18 year old!

@@sirmartinfrobisher It was awesome seeing Jason play with the remaining members when he did, especially for "Celebration Day'; he was amazing and did his dad proud. @@sirmartinfrobisher unfortunately it’s quite a bitter sweat ending, the remaining band members all swore years ago to pack up the band for good once Bonzo died. Even though they now have Jason, Robert plant said it would be daft to break that oath they made years ago. Because Jason asked him after celebration if they want to do a tour, and Robert said to Jason (with all due respect to Jason) that they are not going to break the promise.

@helenespaulding93724 жыл бұрын
Robert Plant wrote the lyrics.....Jimmy composed most of the songs...and you see why they had to stop when Bonzo died. They always said that Zeppelin allowed each of them to individually, and together, reach heights of creativity and performance that they never dreamed possible. Each of them was at the top or within the top five of their talents: Jimmy Page...king of the riff and improvisation onstage, one of the most talented rock guitarists ever, Robert Plant, one of the best frontmen in rock history..,charisma off the charts...known as The Golden God of rock for obvious reasons, a voice that, at least from 1968-1972 would rarely if ever, be matched. Even after he suffered vocal chord damage because of the relentless demand he put on his voice, he still remained one of the best vocalists in rock. He also has had a successful 40 year solo career and still tours at 72. John Bonham...a MONSTER on drums....one of the most powerful drummers of history and one of the most influential, He could follow Page wherever Page led....and at the same time keep everyone on track....and John Paul Jones...the quiet one....hugely talented...could play multiple instruments. He and Bonham are One of the top, if not the top, rhythm section in rock..,ever. The four of them loved performing together, and were totally intuitive and channeled into each other while on stage. Their concerts often lasted over three hours because they would create on the fly. You’ve heard two of their most famous songs and watched parts of two of their most famous performances. They released eight albums as a band...and one after John died, and there are hours and hours of their live performances. You have such a great musical journey ahead of you!

One of the beautiful things about "Kashmir" performed live is that it gives you the opportunity to appreciate rock and roll and just what it can do to move an audience. These four musicians, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and John Bonham were at the height of their careers and can demonstrate just how rock and roll is done. I laugh when I think that this song was only four years old when this performance of it was done in 1979. I was 24 at that time. Today I'm 67 and it still moves me and puts a smile on my face. This band was always worth the price you would pay to see and hear them. It's the kind of excellence that you should always demand. One request. Compare this performance to the one they did in 2009 on Celebration Day when John Bonham's son, Jason was filling in for his late father.

Ok you two.....let’s end this. Bonham died at 32..lDanny Carrey is around 60 now. Think whatBonham accomplished in his much shorter life. Bonham is considered one of the most influential drummers ever, and perhaps the most powerful. He was also perhaps the most intuitive....,which was necessary for being in Zeppelin, as so much improvisation took place No other drummer would have been as good for Zeppelin as Bonham. He is my favorite drummer. BUT, one should guard against saying any performer is the best of all time. I would say in the top five for sure. Danny Carrey is hugely talented and I love Tool....he also however does not improvise onstage, because Tool doesn’t do that. He also has the advantage of 40 yeRs worth of technical innovation......and has things at his fingertips that Bonham never dreamed of...Danny is, in my opinion, the best drummer currently playing.

You girls both really research and listen to every note!!! Outstanding and so happy the younger generations are becoming aware of such masters!!! 🎼✌️❤️🙏🏻

I love the way they have exactly the same/similaiar reaction as the ladies/girls of 40 years ago. Led Zep, still has it. RP,JP, how I envy you. To make a song that timeless.

You mentioned that the song is like a desert-like journey. Robert Plant and Jimmy Page rented a jeep and drove through the deserts of Morocco and it gave the inspiration for that song.

I've been a ZEP HEAD since their 1st album came out. Welcome to my World! They've always been my favourite band, so it is wonderful to see today's youth enjoying the music of my youth. Remember, a lot of us were just the same age as you are now when we 1st heard this music. Reaction channels like yours are helping the whole World connect with each other through the Universal language of music! Cheers to You! Now please react to Led Zep's SINCE IVE BEEN LOVING YOU FROM THE FILM "The Song Remains the Same" LIVE FROM MADISON SQUARE GARDENS!
