This PC looks awesome! The form factor is unique, I actually don't mind the gamer-y appearance. Would have loved a better view of the deconstructed machine, maybe some gaming benchmarks? I hope MSI have not patented w/e they had to do to achieve this design because I would love options from ASUS or even better yet, barebone configuration where i would buy my own parts/case and build an appropriately tiny and cool looking PC with just the right amount of power for my needs.

It's definitely just a small, vocal minority, though I can see why they wouldn't like it too much. +ryan barton i actually was thinking about how much a similar build would cost in a small form-factor case and since consumer grade 980s are too big i put nanos in there. the build costs just about $2500 so you'd be paying about 1500 USD for MSI's proprietary design, form factor and marketing.

It's pretty epic, ya. Although I started building it before skylake came out, so personally if I was to do it over I may have gone with an i7 6700k instead of the 5820k. Higher stock clock speeds are better for gaming. But if you do any kind of content creation with a lot of rendering etc like I sometimes do, the 5820k is very very good. I mean the 5820k is great for gaming as well but I'd say the 6700k might be a little better. They just released the Broadwell-extreme CPU's too though so you could also go with a 6800k or 6850k which is about the same as the 5820k but ever so slightly better. Hope this helps! :) By the way,I'll be installing my custom water loop this weekend, wish me luck! haha

Those 2 980s are modified notebooks desktop 980 (which makes a lot of sense :D) and since that PSU is gold certificated, it should hit the sweet spot for it to deliver the power most efficiently

+Kevin Wolthuis Watch @ 10:30 there are 2 mini display ports and 2 thunderbolt ports all 4 can be used for faster displays. Still no reason to pay that much money though.

Hey Linus. I don't know if you're going to be seeing this comment, but thanks for the video. I do have a question though; how does the 450 watt PSU (even though it's a 80+ GOLD) sustain two 980 GTX's and a i7 6700k? I like to build my own pc's to get what I want, and even though the price is pretty darn harsh on this thing, I still do think it's viable and very efficient. If I had the money, this thing would be sitting on my desk right now instead of a Node 304, definetly. Subscribed to your channel, cheers.

What kills it for me is both upgrades and replacement parts. That thing uses too many custom parts that aren't guaranteed to be available later as Linus said. Props to MSI though, looks neat.

Hey Linus, been watching your videos for a short time now. I enjoy them a lot even though I am computer noob, I find myself growing with fascination about all the cool tech stuff you do. Anyways, I have been thinking about switching from Mac to PC to solidify using one computer over two as I use my mac for music production and my pc for gaming. I was really hoping you would be amazing enough to maybe give me some tips on what to look out for when it comes to building a CPU that is good at both gaming and creative tasks such as music production? For instance, if I threw to msi 980s with 12 cores and 24 threads and like 64gb of mem would the cards alone put a lot of pressure on the machine when not gaming? (Again computer noob here) I would really appreciate any advice or if you can direct me anywhere on something like this. I've found plenty of guides for straight gaming or music pc builds but its very hard to find one that talks about someone who wants to do everything on one computer. Keep inspiring!
