This look like a great home practice for me but I note that it promotes a non-ball-side follow through that I really dont have. My left arm tends to cut away from the ball more like Kyle rather than rising high away. I'll try it as my coach would prefer me to have that higher follow through.

Roughly, how long should the pipe be? 3ft? Does it matter?

Depends on your height. Measure the distance from your feet to your hips and that's the height to use. The taller you are, the longer it will need to be.

😅 Just make sure its the proper height and as long as you don't have very low ceilings, you should be fine.

Actually, its a pipe... but a stick will work. Anything at the proper length, as long as its not flexible.
