@@markgarcia7553 She is :) Oh, I saw your post on the Decorah North chat, not long ago. The eaglets will not catch those birdies - too fast for them! They are more likely to raid their nests. Remember the eagles are heavy animals, slow at taking off, so smaller birds have more manoeuvrability.

Yes, it is a harsh environment. Now I guess Toyon is forced to practise her wing flapping skills - no idea where she landed after the hovering which turned into a fledge.

Thank you very much, Carolyn and welcome to my little corner! Toyon, I understand, is the name of a bay on Catalina Island - some children had camped there and they suggested the name for the eaglet :) I have just looked up the meaning of Toyon and here is the description I found : "An evergreen Californian shrub of the rose family, the fruiting branches of which are used for Christmas decorations".

I don't think so, or at least not all of the time - they are often seen perched in their favourite places, through the other camera (Two Harbors Bald Eagle Cam).
