Doug ford promised to fix all kind of stuff in ontario and he has been by far the worse most damaging premiere we've had since Mike harris who is the 2 worst we've ever had, both of them are on the same team on Poilievre. Fifty years ago in the neighbourhood where I grew up some people built there own houses. Bought a lot and started building. Some kids in my public school talked about moving into the house and the subfloors were painted because they couldn’t afford linoleum yet. The parents completed the inside of the home as they could afford to, a bit at a time. I don’t know if you could even build a home today without a building contractor. My father built a two bedroom addition on our house in the sixties. I remember the building inspector coming to do inspections. My father was the builder, no contractor in sight.
@chrisgraham290411 ай бұрын
When I grew up, my father was a ground worker for the local electrical utility company. Our neighbours were bus drivers, school janitors, meat packers, unskilled construction workers, taxi drivers, corner store owners, grocery clerks, plumbers, carpenters, auto mechanics, auto body workers, city Works Department workers, landscapers and factory workers. They all managed to buy a house, raise 3 to 5 children, provide education, 2 good used cars in the driveway and 75 percent owned summer vacation homes. They never defaulted on a mortgage payment, always payed their taxes and utility bills, never struggled to put food on the table, or to put gas in their cars or heat their homes. Everyone could afford to get away for a vacation for a few weeks per year and the immigrant families often vacationed by returning to their origin countries to visit family every couple of years. This was the reality of the lower-middle-class who worked hard to enjoy a life in Canada. When these people are able to buy a home in Canada again, then Canada will have "affordable homes".

Never vote conservatives for anything. The only item that needs to be conserved is the environment to which the conservatives are opposed of. Other items needs to be advanced and progress must take hold. Through out the world cite me one example that conservatives have done good. If you want the chaos and demagoguery of Trump in Canada then Poilievre is that person. He has neither the skills nor the principle to do good to economic problems facing people. He has gained dexterity in finger pointing over the last 20 years as a career politician. Only anarchists and market wolves will support PP. We do not need anarchists and wolves they need to reside in the jungle.

Until Canadians realize that the current government does not want to build homes because of 'urban sprawl', and want the minions to live in multi unit housing this won't change. The developer likes building these because they can sell more doors per acre of land and the urban planners tell politicians this will stop climate change which also produces more tax payers per acre. When you see a highway jammed with traffic they see 'growth' . The entire problem stems from the belief that building or making almost anything causes climate change. It's not incompetence it's ideology.
@SoybeanAK Жыл бұрын
Trouble is the profit isn't that way. Single units on postage stamp sized lots offer a way better margin for builders, and the single-family-only zoned areas end up costing the taxpayers money because they never provide enough tax revenue to pay for their infrastructure. Developers (and GCs) are the only ones who profit from that sprawl, while the mid-rises actually help the economy. But no-one wants to live in them because they're all built out of tarpaper and spit in North America, instead of being solid and soundproof. Again, developer margins.

There's nothing wrong with multi unit housing. It's probably the only way forward at speed as well. Population grow estimates have us gaining 10 million people by 2050, thats 370,370 people per year. We have to build that many housing units every year. Just to keep the same supply and demand ratio that we already have. More to make it better. Single family homes won't get us there. They take too long per unit to build even once the red tape is out of the way. Plus then more infrastructure is needed. Realistically we need to build a mix of high and medium density housing that has employment and services on ground floor, along with single family homes around those.

I know people whose families have called Canada home for generations. Some came here as refugees, others looking for a better life, others are Métis and have connection to Canada before it was named. And now they speak about leaving. Some already have. Entire generations are being robbed of our homes, history, and hope because of poor leadership. And while the excuse is that many of our problems are happening elsewhere as well - that’s the point! Our officials will bend over backwards to follow failing global agendas and interests while turning a blind eye to their own constituents, to the extent that the people don’t feel like they have a voice either. And then as a response we get waves of regulation limiting our voices and what we can hear. We can be thankful for what we have while still acknowledging the unfortunate realities of the times.

He is so entertaining in Parliament I’ve been watching him ever since. He nails it, has his own philosophy and his wit is like no other. I watched Trudeau win a election and now this next election Pierre is running against him. Pierre is the only one who can beat Trudeau and turn around. He has come far from a year ago on his campaign for PM. Canadians have been so oppressed they don’t trust anyone and I don’t blame them. Pierre has stood up to a lot of scrutiny because of it but he has never shirked and only gets stronger. It will be a BIG celebration when he knocks dictator Trudeau off his Thrown. Ax the carbon tax.

No Pierre the problem to solve which creating this is Foreign Mass Immigration. I told you that in St. Catharines and you did not listen. You want more immigrants into this country than Trudeau. Look at this quote today from the Trudeau Federal Government Today Pierre - The federal government said that in 2022 international students contributed more than $22 billion to the Canadian economy, greater than the contribution of auto parts or lumber exports. So you have stated you will BOOST that number of temporary foreign workers and increase immigration with a blue seal standard. You are not going to stop foreign mass immigration at all. Biden is now saying close the southern border and build a wall. You say bring more people in and free up housing by building more housing that is more expensive.

Not only this, but from what I heard, overseas investors from China and elsewhere, and of course here in Canada, are allowed to purchase multiple houses, sometimes leaving the houses dormant. There should be a heavy tax for those that want to purchase a second home in their name, and especially those that leave houses empty. Fix this problem alone, should greatly reduce house prices. And couple that with building more houses, and the market should then be fair again for first time home buyers.

Fact: For every 5 tradesmen that retire right now, 2 are taking their place. You will need to do more than just get rid of the red tape sir. You will have to encourage tradesmen and trades schools to increase their classrooms/shop spaces too. This should actually start in high school with shop classes like woodworking, mechanics, electrical wiring courses, etc. It also means a lot of training facility expansion locally and re-training for all new canadians that already have a trade because of our higher standards for certification. If we keep going at our current training of new tradesmen, you will never get those houses/apartments built. But I like your plan so far Pierre. You just need to take it further.

@dootdoot1867 Жыл бұрын
@@deebee5310 they do, by the increased tax revenue and productivity and infrastructure valuations. When you are a red seal or journeyman, to train someone, you must stop working. No income/productivity, then you have to fix their errors, loss of income. Then when they get good enough to turn a profit the leave to go on their own. There is no incentive to train and bring up the next generation short of kin. This is damaging for all of canada. With the added nature of Technical schools giving far inferior lessons in comparison to the real world.
@dootdoot1867 Жыл бұрын
@@deebee5310 you have two options, to make them productive contributing members of society, or have them as a drain on society withdrawing value in a one way transaction from productive members. This is why we invest in young non skilled Canadians, because tax revenue over 20-30 years in the various forms, from sales to income to land etc, returns far mire than the 30-100k we spend per.

A one bedroom apartment here is $2000 plus utilities,and they are snapped up quickly because there aren’t enough. We have more immigrants being sponsored by companies that help them afford these places,while letting their long time employees go. It just doesn’t make sense.
