What an awesome plan for dealing with the cold and the heat, and still take great care of the chickens!

So, let me make sure i'm grasping the concept... The way you keep your chickens on pasture when it's hot or cold. Is to not have them on pasture when it's hot or cold...

Where do you get these tents?

That paddock is not for chickens. Prey will quickly make a predator out of them. Horrible.

lol how so? Been running our chickens like this for years

@@tannerfarmstead ? ‘LOL’ wasn’t necessary and kind of cruel. Any animal, whether it be aerial or land, can get under that enclosure meant for cars. I am now unsubscribing because of the ‘lol’.

Chickens are naturally omnivorous and will eat bugs, lizards, small mammals etc. This is their natural state. Are you expecting him to keep them from eating foods that they evolved to eat?

@@KevinLudovic shut up...I was talking about animals getting the chickens. Do you know what the terms predator and prey mean...based on your silly reply, I’d say not.

@@morgancalvi6675 You've obviously not ever kept pastered chickens...and I have my doubts you've ever had any birds except maybe a petsmart budgie in a cage, as common sense would tell you that if he's losing his chickens to predators, he wouldn't be doing it this way. But in the spirit of education, here's how it works. As shown in the videos, there is a moveable predator-proof electified netting (PoultryNet or PermaNet, both made by Premier 1 Supplies) put up surrounding the paddock to protect against anything that creeps, crawls or walks, and the trees & closed ends of the high tunnel prevent aerial attacks from hawks/owls. As the coop is wheeled into the high tunnel, he is able to shut them up in the coop at night if he chooses. That alone will do the job of protecting his birds. And if he has a livestock guardian dog, chances of a predator even making it anywhere close to the electric netting is slim to none. So no, the chickens are NOT in danger.
