God bless you guys. It must’ve tough having to go through two hurricanes. Can’t even imagine it and losing everything. Thank God your still alive. Maybe when reconstructing build higher homes using stone bricks. Yes the water will seep in but the structure will be more study. In kenya we don’t have hurricanes but flooding when it really rains. People are able to survive and clean up after the storm passes. Having houses on two floors can help move stuff up to the higher floor. So sorry for your loss

It definitely makes me wonder what the future holds for this state and how Florida will fare. I love my home so much, it’s such a special place to be from. This really represents many of our experiences in Saint Petersburg as well. I learned that there is no amount of “prepping” you can do to prepare you for what just happened. It’s also so wild how vastly different both of these storms were from each other and so close together. 😢 I hope those that want to stay will band together and help rebuild bc it’s chaos here right now. People are fighting at gas stations and grocery stores. I’m native to pinellas county but It doesn’t feel like home at the moment. Thoughts and prayers.

Looking at old Florida homes they all used to be elevated. New regulations require 17ft above sea lvl and 10ft above ground. What are people thinking that buy houses that will flood with 3ft of water on the road. ..... and then there are people that use sand bags etc. People- use your head. Edit: I've been in all of them.... without major damage.

I hate to say this but the survivors need to look at it as in that they got away with their lives! I’ve been through 3 major hurricanes including Katrina. I had to look at it that way. Material things can be replaced. Now pictures or items like that are horrible to lose. I got flooded then looted the robbed again after Katrina. So just be grateful about getting away with your lives. That helped me move on mentally but I do agree that there is a grieving process. I feel bad Still of course. The pets , the young and elderly especially. Don’t worry guys y’all will get through this.
