Two if by land, part 3! Simplex VDI and sounds- field detecting.

The long delayed part three of my 1 March 2022 detecting trips. Illness kept me from getting this up until now, but here it is 😁 Sounds and vdi in a Scottish field, detected within a month of ploughing. I'm afraid the go pro battery went and I had to use the phone camera, which made it a bit tricky to pinpoint. I do warn you when it's a long stretch before I get to the find, so you may fast forward if you wish. 😏

@@mikebeattie1061 the investigative and lidar work Nosas and TTT have done on the area is immense. Def helps me plan my detecting hunt. 😁 I don't mind the deal I have that I give what I find to them for the museum, I'd rather finds were publicly visible anyway. 😊

Glad your feeling better to complete the video. I've purchased the simplex with 2.78 and they have stopped supporting the firmware roll back now. So you cannot go back to 2.77. Even with the bin file the simplex will not roll back. I believe its the windows installation program thats stopping me.

Hi David, if you have a model that shipped after 2.76 was launched, you can not roll that Simplex back to original software. Only the first editiion ones can roll back to 2.68. However, I did think 2.77 was an option for the second edition Simplexes. So you can't roll back to 2.77? You don't want 2.76, but 2.77 should be ok. Hmmm. Maybe you are on a 3rd edition I don't know about. Will ask Dilek.

Thats kind of you thanks. My thinking is its the windows installer. I've got the bin file 2.77. But like I said it wouldn't install it on the simplex. I will wait your reply. Thanks.

@@david-un3om Do you think having the entire zip file (including both the installer and the bin 2.77) would work? Because I have that complete zip file I could send. But if you are using the installer that came with 2.76/6 and it isn't working, then it's possible you have a Simplex V2 that won't roll back. Still waiting to hear from NM about this, but had the idea about the whole zip file and figured I'd ask you.

I had many folks respond to the question I posted about rolling a 2.78 back to 2.77 and they all had done it successfully! So it's possible. Hi I am confused about what you said in Regards to 2.77 vs 2.78 when Adjusting Sensitivity are you saying 2.78 is not actually adjustable? Thanks

Hi Dusty. It's complicated, but basically in 2.78 NM answered the calls of some of the customer base that wanted the machine to be less of a hot rod (needing less tuning). What NM did was turn the displayed sensitivity down. So- in 2.77, I will see signals that in 2.78 won't be displayed, because they might be jumpy. For me, I would rather turn the sensitivity up and down myself, as needed, so I have the ABILITY to crank it up in quieter sites. If it's too jumpy/chatty in 7 bars, then I turn it down a bar. If it's quiet, I run her hot on 7 bars and get full depth feedback on the vdi. If you run 2.78, the machine drops the vdi reported to you on 7 bars, and you can't turn it up. The machine still sees the same depth as 2.77 on 7 bars, but it doesn't give you the information. This is to keep the readings stable and the machine quiet at all times. Personally, I would rather run at 6 bars or even 5 on lively land, and know that I have 7 bars available when I go to quiet land. I want the machine to be able to give me all the information she has, and for that I'm willing to do a bit of adjustment myself. On the video I am just finishing editing, you will see an instance of jumpy numbers on 7 bars, stable and correct ID on 4 bars. And I talk about adjusting her to suit your situation on there. :)

Do you know if it is possible to go back to 2.77 from 2.78? Mine was shipped to me With 2.78. Congrats on the Copper did you ever put the Calipers on it?

@@dusty1498 Hi Dusty, you were in luck, I just happened to be on when you posted. I'm looking into the roll back to 2.77 from 2.78 shipping for someone else. He has the bin file but it won't load. We aren't sure if it's the install file that is the issue, or if it's a Simplex ver2 issue. As soon as I know, I'll let you know. For the copper, I did not. I'll do that today and put a pic up! Totally forgot all about it, lol. Thanks for reminder 😁
