Can I ask Ian what knot do you use to attach your braided leader to your mono reel line keep the videos coming
@ianclarkfishing2 жыл бұрын
Oh crikey it’s one I sort of invented. I do a double overhand loop of the mono and pass the braid through it and do a double loop with that. It’s important to make sure it’s really moistened… I gently pull them semi tight then do a tucked 5 turn blood knot by wrapping the mono around the braid and tighten everything. Does that make sense????

Great video Ian 👍I was fishing the bridging camp the night before had plenty of bream on pop up rigs but also plenty of weed too nice too see the codling showing early hopefully a good run of cod this autumn
@ianclarkfishing2 жыл бұрын
Hi Lee yes the weed a real pain!!! Glad you enjoyed some sport….we usually get good bream from Ferrybridge too but decided against there this time to avoid the weed to no avail!!🙄 cheers ian

Good mixed bag, bream such a lovely looking fish, a couple of early codling a definite surprise. Nice to see you both back out fishing, hit n miss in Cornwall last 6 weeks or so, had a 2 week spell of easterlies which ruins it. A few exotic species turning up. As always tight lines to you both, best wishes Chris.

Good to see so many species coming in especially the codling. I fished just before the dragons teeth last week just after dawn, had two massive bites but could not connect. However it was a real joy to be out. Stay safe and tight lines. Mike.
@ianclarkfishing2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike lovely to hear from you again!!! I wonder what gave those bites?? Just after dawn could have been bass which are active then …. Smoothound usually hook themselves easily!! Tight lines to you too!! Cheers ian

Great video, really interesting that you use relatively small size 4 Sakuma hooks can I ask what pattern they are please?
@ianclarkfishing2 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul thanks so much for watching!! Glad you enjoyed the video! I think they are manta sakumas…. They are strong enough for a smoothound but small enough for the bream… they haven’t let me down yet!!! Fishing rag tipped with squid and those size hooks gives a good chance with a wide range of species on Chesil!! Cheers ian
@paulshaw34322 жыл бұрын
@@ianclarkfishing Have just started fishing chesil regularly as it’s pretty local to me, being mainly a coarse angler it’s been hard to get my head around fishing with such heavy tackle. Finning down where possible definitely leads to more bites. Did you have that big smoothound earlier in the year on those little sakumas?
@ianclarkfishing2 жыл бұрын
Yes size 4 hooks rag and squid! If you stick to that , fish spring tides and concentrate on evening, night and very early morning then your chances are greatly enhanced. In weather like we have currently got only anglers with great experience and casting ability can catch consistently in daylight hours.
@alanskilton96242 жыл бұрын
Great little video as normal , i've never noticed the No access ahead before at the dragons teeth , what does that refer to, further along the beach or back towards the swannery ? I'm down there next week and plan to fish the portland end somewhere so wish me luck. Tight lines mate.
@ianclarkfishing2 жыл бұрын
Hi Alan it’s to deter people from walking past the teeth during bird nesting as the terns nest on the top. But if you walk on the seaward side by the high tide mark then no problem. Good luck at Ferrybridge I would walk past the bird sanctuary if it’s not too hot to do so. Thanks for watching cheers ian
@alanskilton91682 жыл бұрын
@@ianclarkfishing thanks for the reply and the advice about the walk away from ferry bridge, I will /we will trudge as far as we can on the day. It’s an anniversary trip of three nights and I’m getting one day to fish so plan on making the most it. Lol

Great video Ian, just interested that you are fishing past the Dragons Teeth in July because I thought we could only go past them from the 1st of September? I did hear that the seaward side was always open to access but the signs are confusing, and can I ask if you are still using short pulley pennels but with smaller hook sizes? Cheers.
@ianclarkfishing2 жыл бұрын
Hi Neil I think if you walk on the seaward side you are not disturbing any nesting terns etc. We wouldn’t walk along the top. And yes a 2 foot pulley size 4 hooks is our go to rig…. It just casts nicely and seems to catch most species! Thanks for watching cheers ian
@ianclarkfishing2 жыл бұрын
Yes we met a warden some years ago…. If you drop down to the high tide mark at the teeth and walk from there he didn’t have an issue.
@neiljones-theinlandshorean38392 жыл бұрын
