I think they do that because the kerbing in misano is quite bumpy, and in this track they use the kerbs a lot. But i might be wrong

The 2nd tube would be for an on board telemetry/ A computer readout showing the actual stroke speed of the of the front suspension. That would also be tied in with GPS global positioning sensor and GPS gear position sensor rpm and the same type of information on the rear suspension. There would also be a speed or rpm reference to the front and rear wheel to show well we Ley's and other information. All for about $20000 of information for you to over analyze

Is the small piston/gas-spring looking thing beside the fork some sort of measurement device? It looks too delicate to have any sort of damping function. Also, are there two hydraulic hoses going to the brake caliper or is the front one electrical?

Yes, that measures fork stroke and sends data to the telemetry.

You mean at full lean? There is a misconception that counter-steering is used throughout the corner. That is not the case. It's only used to make the bike "fall" into the turn, where you can "pick it up" and direct with the usual "direct" steering. Once you are done turning and need to make the bike stay upright you use counter-steering yet again, very briefly (just like in the previous case). The higher the speed, the less the bike needs to travel at a smaller steering angle to lose balance. That's why counter-steering is almost unnoticeable to the eye.

It depends on how the bike is set. Rebound is how fast a suspension reverts to normal position. They use hydraulics to adjust rebound. There are two rebound.. one is compression rebound or how fast the spring compresses and the other rebound is how fast the fork unloads. It appears the the suspension fork decompresses slowly but the speed at which the fork unloads is pretty normal as in cornering when he slows down it, the fork extends at that time so when he accelerates it extends less
