THanks,thats food for thought.I automatically would would that left hand also ,but really didn't make much difference to not using it.I thought it was a showey kind of thing,but having LISTENING to that,YES,the point is you dont need to completely close that left foot.

What if you need your left hand on other purposes?

I generally leave the cymbals slightly open and comp with my left hand in that scenario.

You can also comp with your stick hitting the hi hat stand in this position. Looks pretty hip, too
