Hi folks, i like the review. One question though, have you noticed any 'whirring' noise from the IS?

Its not that bad!!! If you want a good aperture go for the 70-200mm L Lens, it has a constant aperture of f/2.5 but it does not have as much zoom

Not really, I myself am looking for a better telephoto zoom lens for my canon 650d. I think it has a fairly good af and is as good as the canon. They are both around the same price so they should be similare in build quality.

The other lens is an L lens, which stands for Luxury. L lenses are premium lenses with much better quality than non-L lenses. They are also very expensive. This Lens is great but it is not as good as the L Lens is when it comes down to build quality and image quality
