this was a helpful video. I have done some macro shots (beginner) and realized that getting a dedicated lens (105 mm mostly) would be quiet costly to begin with. A 40 mm lens will be half the cost but with barely inches away from an insect it might not work. Enter the DigiCam and i have been contemplating using it to begin with and later decide. I am pleasantly surprised at the capability of the powershot ELPH.. thanks.

sadman sakib When I bought my Canon 200D it came with this lens (along with the kit lens and a 50mm f/1.8 stm), so it should work really well with it.

Your shutter speed example is a little weird. You're comparing 2 apertures, f/2.8 with f/5.6, which is only a difference of 2. Yet your shutter speeds have 4.3 stops in between. 1/20 to 1/400.

I bought the 18-200 but from 135 to 200 it zooms verry little (like nothing) From 18 to 135mm it zooms verry good. Is this normal??

f/5.6 is only two f-stops slower than f/2.8. So for the same exposure as the f/2.8 1/400 shot, the f/5.6 shot should only need to be slowed down to 1/100.

Moon Light Life I have 135, its amazing. Might get 200 for more far away stuff, but f2 indoors is better.

Thanks for review! I would like to know do you compare 70-200mm f2.8 L II IS VS 300mm f2.8 IS L? i'm interested image quality of lens, is there big difference? P.S. - I know that they are difference lenses and has different focal length, but there must be PICTURE/IMAGE QUALITY difference between this 2 lenses. I'm interested comparing 70-200mm @200mm VS 300mm, i don't mean bokeh, only first plan, human face or some subject sharpness, details.

Great video, but I could really have done with confirmation of the body (was it a cropped body or not, as it might not be wide enough for the architectural shots say with a Canon 60D. Can anyone help on this?

It's a full frame. An easy way to notice is the fact that full frame bodies in Canon's lineup don't have an on camera flash, it's just a rounded where the flash typically should be. On crop, this lens will give you approx. 25mm to 56mm so on the wide end it should still be wide enough for architectural shots.

i no a lot of people fall into to this group, i went for this lens because the version two was to much money and didn't think the IS was worth the extra $1000. like you this lens will do fine for what i shoot,vary good and well made lens.
