Two Point Hospital Strategy & Tactics Quick Tip: The Power Ward Mk II

One of the best builds I have in my hospital and I've had it provide amazing effects with a full load, 4-6 queue, and an emergency on top of that. The wall monitors really help take up the slack early in a level where you're lucky if you got two nurses with Ward I. I feel if there was more of an ability to micromanage the room like set percentages for beds for diagnosis/treatment or set screens for diagnosis/treatment it might become even more efficient.

OMG, Pinstar, you're killing me here with all these improved layouts! I'm halfway through a Panzer Corps Afrika Corps playthrough and doing a Far Cry 5 playthrough when I need a break from it. you forgot to add the sweet dispenser next to the nurse station (which you added in your previous video). Also, you can replace the medicine cabinets with Weighing Machine (reto DLC). Not only they are cheaper (400 vs 1000) but they also serve as a decorative item while preserving the bonuses to treatment and diagnostic

Cofee machine is super important though: not only it reduces thirst, it gives staff speed bonus. Its a shame patients can't drink coffee... On the other hand, that's what Energy Drink Machine are for.

You can actually move both screens a little to the right and squeeze them together (with the help of the control button) to make room for more items.

I was able to squeeze a coffee maker and chair in to this build in the path of the door next to the screen.

The chair keeps the second nurse from wandering in the path of the patients too

@@algarvestrikk I managed this as well as the sweet dispenser, Sweet Dispenser to the front of the nurses station and then coffee maker on the opposite walk through (nearer the nurses station chair side), and then the chair faces the door. Only a tiny adjustment but more things!

A month late since you put this out so you might not see this but, you can fit FOUR wall monitors on each side if you scoot the med cabinets closer to the middle beds.

Ah... I see... I thought it was an oversight in the previous power ward video. I didn't realize that the wall monitors originally couldn't be placed over beds. xD

Yep! I don't know when they changed it, but that change alone prompted me to remake the video just to update it. The extra boost of treatment power from the monitors means you can get max treatment success for any ward illness from just a level 3 nurse trained in Ward III. Anything beyond that is gravy for some extra diagnostic oomph.

With careful use of the CTRL key I've managed to get 14 Wall Monitors, 2 Weight Machines (replacing Medicine Cabinets), 2 Medicine Cabinets (couldnt get Weight Machines to work on the "back wall"), 1 Sweet Dispenser, 1 Chair, 1 Hand Sanitizer and 1 Coffee Maker, along with 3 Small Air Con Units, then topping the room up with Gold Star Awards (3). $27,425 total cost. Now I'm looking forward to playtesting it all XD

When the hospital gets bigger I find 6 beds isn’t enough. Would you build a second power ward ? Or extend it by 3 for 4 more beds ?

A single power ward won't hold up forever. I've recently started setting my queue alerts to 3 and once I see a room keep and maintain a queue of 3 or more (outside of inviting in an emergency) I'll copy the room and build another elsewhere. 6 beds in a 5x4 space does mean you get a lot of bang for your buck on the wards you DO build .

Hey Pinstar, for some reason I don't have the option to train my staff in ward management... Is it a bug in my game? Or do I have to do something before ward management is offered... I've had it before, so a bit annoyed it's not there now! What's your ideal training for a ward nurse? Do you mix diag and treatment in the same person, or do you specialise and force them to stay in their respective wards (if that's even possible?!). Thanks, Leanne

He said in one of the staffing videos that he specializes nurses in Ward Management and only allows those ones to work in Ward or Fracture Ward. And other nurses specialize in Treatment or in Diagnostics, each group only allowed to work in their respective best rooms. Though he seemed to not specialize any nurses in Pharmacy, using Treatment nurses instead? He also didn’t go over Injection specializations… but I’m not all the way through the playlist so maybe he addresses that later. And he said Bedside Manner is a good extra skill to train at the end if you’re planning to crank up the prices of nurse-administered treatments (I think that was in the marketing video).

There are acouple of problems with this layout like the traffic in from of the changing screens. I found a 3 x 4 layout with 4 beds & 2 screens has better flow and only 1 nurse is needed with 2 nurses slightly improving things. Not as much bonuses but you really don't need that much later on with training.

Hi Pinstar! I have a note and a question about Ward design. Question: Does making Pods (DLC item) instead of Beds have any effect? There are no effects listed in the Pod description, but maybe there is some hidden effect? Note: I suggest replacing one bed with changing screen in this design, because with 2 screens patints won't be changing fast enough and you'll have 1 bed idle. Or making bigger Ward to fit that extra Changing Screen.

This videos are really helpful. I have another question. Does the Caffé still only useful as a staff room?

I'd need to do some more testing to confirm, but my instinct is to say "yes". I know they changed the queue logic with patients to account for MIA patients when it is their turn so the queue doesn't get held up, but I still fear the time sink caused by visiting the cafe will never be justified by the benefit to the patient. At least with doctors the extra buffs to happiness and energy have a meaningful impact for awhile after the doctor/nurse has come back from break. Even then, the logistics of the Cafe can be iffy. More testing is needed.

I'd have to take a look at the 7 bed build. Part of the Power Ward's design is not just its capacity but flow. Not to mention that having at least +10% bonus in the room from cabinets and wall monitors allows your ward nurses to hit max treatment chance at level 3 with Ward III.

Well here is the layout I found. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rYXMdGBjaLSsaaM I don’t like the fracture ward set up as the staff have to slowly run an obstacle course. But the standard ward works. Could use more hall monitors to make up for less medicine cabinets

Hmmm that is a sensible layout and does squeeze in one extra bed. The problem is that the screens are a bottle neck. With 6 beds, the two screens are stretched pretty thin with patients constantly getting dressed and undressed. A 7th bed won't actually increase the room's throughput that much as there will be a log jam at the changing screens so the patient throughput won't be as high as you'd expect. It's a good layout, but I'd stick to my Power Ward MK II.

Anyone else have a glitch in their game viewing the patient info screen for xbox? I even uninstalled the game and reinstalled it. Seemed ok for about 5 minutes, then it was right back. I was enjoying this game too.

I am on console, which prevents disable snapping for doors, is this going to cause problems for my ward slash is there a way around this

The power ward doesn't rely on fine-tuned door snapping. You're good to place it on the 2nd or 4th tile on the 5 tile wide side of it.
