Dario does not say he believes this will happen in 5-10 year time frame. He says 'powerful AI' might come *as early as 2026* but the the effects he is talking about is what will happen 5-10 years AFTER powerful AI comes. Here is the quote directly from the essay: > I think it could come as early as 2026, though there are also ways it could take much longer. But for the purposes of this essay, I’d like to put these issues aside, assume it will come reasonably soon, and focus on what happens in the 5-10 years after that.

This was a fascinating discussion on the potential paths AI could take! I appreciate how Vergecast broke down both the optimistic and cautionary sides of AI’s future. Side note: timestamps will make it easier to navigate these longer episodes!

i miss old verge youtube channel it just became potcast channel without new review video. I know 1hr potcast give more ad-rev plus sponsor money with little labor cost. there aren't really a reason to sub this channel except tech show supercut...... it just sad seeing this change.

The hallucinations are AI's biggest problem. If you have critical tasks where errors are catastrophic, you can't trust AI to process them without having to monitor. This defeats the whole AGI vision.
