@@higheryibes4430 good call! I hadn't thought of that but now that you mention it, I can see it's definitely that for me often. I also use it to attempt to shift the state I am in, or to help get me in the mindset of accepting things as they are, which seems beneficial... I will have to think on this! Thanks.

Eckhart remains one of the most important spiritual teachers of our time. When I flip into presence my consciousness raises at least 2 levels immediately, I feel energy flowing through my body, I start feeling Spirit..etc. If we can get so present as to lose self-identity and reclaim our true identity..Spirit..Source Divine that's when we begin creating miracles...healing "incurable" diseases, manifesting the "impossible". I've done it, I know it's true..it starts by just watching that sky and simply 'being"..rather than thinking. Namaste

Eckhart often mentions trees and other plants as being signposts towards stillness and presence. My orchid collection does this for me. I can sit in front of them just appreciating everything about them, from their leaves to their flowers to their root tips, and just be in a state of no thought. Observing and appreciating plants is a wonderful way to let the mind gear down and allow yourself to experience being.

When I feel most likely to be free of thought is when I look at my dog, if he’s sleeping or looking at the sky. Animals look outside all the time. We have something to learn, as always.

So powerful, when you step out of your own identity and observe with no identity, you become anything. I notice that when I detach and have a conversation with a person from this state of mind, and I allow myself to not judge the other's situation, I am able to connect with them at the deeper level, in a way I become them. People keep feeding themselves with more noise, but in reality what they need is space. The space that is found within stimulus and response. Thank you Eckhart, -Much love from a growing KZbinr

I have a practice I call water watching or river reading. I go to the nearest stream of flowing water, gather up a pile of twenty or so little twigs or sticks. I sit on a rock or a log and I drop one twig at a time into the water, focusing attentively to the twig as it rushes with the water around little rocks and over little waterfalls. I follow the twig with all of my attention until, the twig is so far down stream that it is no longer visible to me. And then I repeat with the next twig.

"You are looking as consciousness, not as a person." This is directly in line with what I have been contemplating and developing recently as facets of our IDENTITY. That is a huge culprit in what causes us to act against our own best interests. We get attached to identity markers and trap ourselves in the motives and beliefs of that identity. We are no longer the observer, but rather an entity with limitations, biases, and perspectives that often don't even serve our survival and thriving, let alone our ability to really contribute to the world story we want to create.

I too look at the sky and have numerous photos of the clouds and sunrises and sunsets on my phone:) Each cloud, sunrise and sunset is different. But each time I look I don’t stop the feeling of awe and thought of “ how perfect the sky is, how perfect the clouds are, how perfect the sunrise is, how perfect the sunset, how perfect the tree is . How perfect they all are! Who could have created such beautiful perfection? This thought is required to understand who created my soul and why did all these perfect things around me are provided for me to enjoy. A blank mind is a dead mind and a dead soul! If the awe is not there, there is no gratitude. Ultimately gratitude to who? God Almighty! Glory be to Him! He needs no partners to create such perfection. No other can create like Him!

I invited an old acquaintance on a 1 hr forest meditation walk in which we try to let go of narrative, labeling and commentary. When the hour came to an end he exclaimed that he perceived no value in the experience and suggested that trying to close the mind off from it's intellectual instinct and stop applying labels/identification's - isn't spiritual growth. He said " Even the Buddha could point out and name the bodhi tree where he sat and became enlightened". He suggested that closing the mind off in this way is just trying to avoid the work of learning the names of the plants and trees etc

Man, it really is such a paradox. Surely, the moment you create a 'habit' or a 'spiritual practice', all the time the mind is occupied by that practice, then it is the practice in itself which prevents you from 'being present'. Would that be fair to say with the utmost respect ?
@chance57452 жыл бұрын
In case you are open to another's feedback. I would say, yes whilst you are thinking, 'I am going to practice being aware,' you are not aware. But the moment you become aware of the objects within your perceptual field (sights, sounds, smells, physical contact,...) without any commentary, you are simply aware. I hope this helps. Kindly, C.
@I-am-3262 жыл бұрын
@@chance5745 Always open to feedback. I hear what you are saying. So could I ask, are you suggesting, all the time there is internal commentary I am not aware ? What if a thought arises, but yet I am aware of it ?! ... Surely true awareness is to be aware of both the physical world around you, aswell as all the internal commentary within the mind ? Of course, when there is an awareness of internal commentary happening, if that commentary has no relevance, it comes to an end naturally. But my point is, would it not be fair to say, you are still 'aware' even when thought does arise ... providing you are aware of it obviously ?!!
