Can two charge controllers power the same battery? That's what we test in this video.
0:00 Intro
0:32 12V AGM Double Charger
7:20 48V Lithium Ion Double Charger
8:30 Test Equipment - Resistance Heater
11:53 Conclusion
For this test we are using a pair of PowMr 60A Charge Controllers. These do not talk to each other, they are imply sensing the voltage of the battery and reacting as they see fit.

A suggestion.... No YTer shows their full system working. How many amps they draw during the night and how long it will take the solar controller to replace those amps. In a real battery bank of over 500 amp hours. And no body shows systems that are a year old and how they survive time. It is a niche.

I know this is an old video, but I see people reporting that if you use the 2 pv and bat connections for using wires at the same time, the controller thinks there is a 24v bat connected and some settings do not apply as 12v because of this. Have you ever encountered this issue? Yes, I just got one but I have not done testing yet.

Depends on which model of the charge controllers you are using. For the 30 amp cc it is 720w, 40 amp it is 960w, 50amp it is 1200w and for the 60amp it is 1440 watts for your 24volt panel that you have assuming you are using a 24volt battery bank. If you are using a 48volt battery bank the numbers will be different. If you are using a 24volt system you need to series two of your panels because the charge controller starts from 37v-105v input in the in the 24v system range.

@BeeneEnergy
@BeeneEnergy Жыл бұрын
Someone can correct me if I’m wrong but ul1741 is specifically for an inverter only feeding power to the grid if grid is available, and shutting down when no grid is present. Since this is a charge controller with no inverter functionality it won’t have any ul1741 cert. For that matter it doesn’t have any ul certification being an inexpensive off grid controller :).

@@BeeneEnergy Yep...they are exactly the same...you adjust things via dip switches and pots. They use a common external shunt so they know exactly what's going into the batteries versus what's being used in the cabin. They also have their own battery temp sensors located in the same place on the battery bank. System uses END AMPS to transition to float via the external shunt.

I dont understand what you mean they are not synchronized. There is nothing to synchronise. If you empty two bottles of water into the sink, you dont need special synchronise for it to work lol, i assure you, it just work.. also with 20 bottles. Concerning to hear they show wrong watts. I'm getting quite allergic to those powMr. Saw the review from another youtuber where the 60a new model you tested which got stock in mode 7, was sending out 80v to the battery if you had a battery disconnect just for a few sec.. seems its absolute pure garbage all around their offerings.
@BeeneEnergy
@BeeneEnergy Жыл бұрын
More expensive controllers like the outback FM80 have sync cables so they act as one. This was me playing around with whether that seemed overkill. As you state it seems rather intuitive they can just operate independently since they are all just sensing voltage. While these silver powmr charge controllers seem to operate better than their new m60 "pro" model there do seem to be differences over time, as some I've tested have worked better than others. Reliability hasn't been a concern so far though and they stay cool enough to keep out of the default mode the m60-pro goes into.
@MegaCyrik
@MegaCyrik Жыл бұрын
@@BeeneEnergy im guessing its a sync for making sure you dont do multiple cell equalisation on flooded batteries. So if you have 2 or more then they pick one to do it monthly, not every 5 days because you have 6-7pcs. Charging has really no info one could tell the other. They sence voltage as you say, and thats going to have a tiny difference among them self. Then they sence resistance as they try to charge.. slight difference there too. Nothing to communicate related to charging. Edit: Im going to buy another "One Solar" controller. Its cheap and all the competition have very poor displays that make me allergic. Especially srne controllers look like they came out of 1982 with their menu. I just hate looking at them.. like writing letters on an old calculator.. just stupid in year 2022 because they want to save 12cent. :)
