that is only a theory, the shape of red blood cells depends on the difference of the osmotic pressures. They are not allways in donut shape

I had a microscope last year, and when I inspected my blood, the shape was Oblong.

Before you go and hunt for diseases you probably don't have, note that the cells might just being compressed by the glass, see here at 3:10 how they are also not round
