Thanks for this RV. This song is more radio friendly than their other collab song DETERMINADO (MV dropped a day ago). But Determinado pulls more punches - lyrically and figuratively - as it won for Pablo and Josue the grand prize in the 2021 Djooky Music Awards. It's a US- based competition, AFAIK, where the song bested 2k+ entries from all around the world. :)

Josue (pronounced as Ho-sweh) is an artist is his own right. He is SB19's sound engineer and does most of the mixes of their songs. He is also the sound engineer of Justin in his Cebu event yesterday. He also made the additional Gento beats live during the Half a Decade fan meet performance. Incidentally, it was Ken and Pablo who first performed this 3 yrs ago during their Global online concert. I actually like the ending of their version. That ending wasn't in this lyric video but they sang it when they performed it on the Wish Bus and during the UP Fair. Funny thing is both Ken and Pablo don't drink. Ken has an allergy to alcohol and Pablo just doesn't like the taste.

Thank you for this RV. ALAK, AKALA is actually one of the early collabs of Pablo and his brother, Josue (Ho-sweh). The duo is collectively known as RadKidz. The song was first performed by Pablo and Ken in one of their online concerts prior to 2022. Trivia: - The expression "SHAT!" is actually a Filipino pronounciation of "SHOT!" which actually means, "Cheers!" - Josue has been involved in almost all of the songs in the Pagtatag! album, as music producer. He had also released a filipino catchy song, "Malandi" (Flirty in english)

He helps some of the amazing sounds behind SB19 music helping out Pablo with the arrangements and amazing beats. Pablo was so inspired with Josue when it comes to producing amazing sounds. Just like this song AKALA which is originally composed by Josue himself but Pablo tweaked some of the lyrics to make the arrangement sounds so much better. They already been writing so many amazing songs ever since been kept for 4-5 years now. That’s why RADKIDZ this time decided to showcase their songs and Determined now to unleashed all their masterpieces 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. In reality, that 'SHAT' isn't an actual word nor does it mean cheers necessarily (just the nuance of raising a glass), it's just 'shot' with a Filipino accent (also Filipinos spell shot as is and not as shat). Some speculate as Pablo is fond of wordplay that it is purposely done to meld the two: a colloquial shot as well as the past tense of the english curse word which is very commonly interspersed in more than one if not all of the Filipino languages 😅 Some have said that Josue (Joshua) is the silent 6th member as he is very involved with SB19 song production and composition. He seems to concentrate more on beat production sound and mastering but does have a lot of his own solos stuff on Spotify. Maybe you'll spot the difference in ideology between his solo and his SB19 collaborations 😉

In a recent live performance, Pablo said "shat" in the song has multiple meanings. With the song's overall perspective about drinking, i believe they're fully aware that "shat" is the past tense of "shit" in English and intentionally used that as some sort of Tagalized version of "shot" for drinking. We all know Pablo loves his wordplays. 😄

Josue = Hos-weh / Hos-wey.. Shat is Tagalog slang for shot, as in one shot of alcohol.. it's how we say cheers, too. Pablo (or Filipinos in general) sometimes pronounces o=a, like hotdog = hatdog...it's part of our Taglish (Tagalog English) vocabulary. Thank you for the reaction. Pablo comes from a singing family. There are 7 siblings and starting with 11:22 their parents, everyone sings and is musically inclined. His brother has been instrumental in helping with their music tracks (SB19). I didn’t know you guys are planning to settle maybe in the Philippines. It's also technically "shot" for cheers in the Philippines but pinoys dont pronounced it like Americans would wherr u drop your jaw. So i think it was consious decision for them to spell it "shat" because that's true to our pinoy accent. I respect how they did that. Other words we use instead of shaat for toast is "cheers" and of course "tagay". 😊

I really appreciated that you started off reading a paragraph on the background of the song. This way, you understood right off the bat that this wasn’t an “ode to alcohol” as one reactor put it. In fact, it’s quite the opposite! And it points out Pablo’s part of the composition and writing. He writes melodies to Josue’s and tweaks lyrics (in this case Josue’s and adds to them) and makes them more “Pabloesque” - this a new crafted word that we should use for this gem of a man. PABLOOOOOO. His name should always be written in ALL CAPS.
