@@bangbangrayhill2218 I look at scaffs in the same way band mates look at drummers. You know you're gonna NEED scaffs somewhere along the line but, nobody ever really WANTS scaffs. Just treat them the same way you would treat the gorillas or baboons at a safari park. Don't make direct eye contact, watch from a distance and NEVER try to make actual contact. Probably best not to feed them, as well.

Well, you said you were fresh out of Borstal and someone offered you some work hod carrying. Then some scaffolders saw you mucking about with some of their equipment and asked you to stop. That was the defining moment- they had every right to ask you to do that, right??They were older men, and you were touching stuff that didn’t belong to you. You could have said yeah, fair enough, no problem! You wouldn’t have lost any face if you had stopped and gone along with their request, which was a reasonable one, don’t you think? Then that whole carry-on could’ve been avoided. I would’ve thought all these many many decades later, you would look back on moments like that with a seasoned and wiseful perspective. Yes, back then you were 17 or 18 or 19 and thought you could take on the world and didn’t like being told what to do, I get all of that. I understand!! But from a personal point of view, and I am somebody now in my 50s, and you are older, Ray, I would hope that if you could go back to that moment with the wisdom you should now possess, you would’ve choose a different option. To me, you have to pick your fights carefully in life, something you generally don’t realise at a young age. And fights can take many forms, not just a fist fight in the street. For me, you sometimes have to lose a battle to win the war and there are many moments when you have to go along, to get along. Look, I know you’re doing a podcast or a Vlog and you are trying to remember entertaining stories for your viewers, like me. I just feel that you could still tell the same story, but when you come to the end, sprinkle in a little bit of wisdom and say something like ‘I mugged these guys off and they taught me a lesson.’ Or some version of that. As viewers, we still get to hear the same story, except from the point of view of someone who looking back on life maybe feels that there were times when you allowed your emotions to get the better of you. When the smart option might have been something different. I’m not having a go at you Ray, so don’t go on the defensive. keep fighting the good fight! 👍
