Church bells ring and set the scene of a prisoner awaiting alone in a cold cell contemplating his life, knowing his death is coming. The final 5 stages of grief run through this man. *Denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance.* *Denial:* "Can it be that there's some sort of error hard to stop the surmounting terror Is it really the end, not some crazy dream?" Here we have the prisoner's internal dialogue, questioning what's happening to him, as he is in disbelief that his death is really coming. *Anger:* "Somebody please tell me that I'm dreaming It's not easy to stop from screaming The words escape me when I try to speak" The prisoner, in his disbelief, wants to cry out, but he's choked up, unable to say a word. Angry at himself and the world for being where he is now. *Bargaining:* "After all I'm not afraid of dying Don't I believe that there never is an end" The prisoner, less to the world and more to himself, tries to calm himself, as he wants to believe that there is an afterlife and he is only going to die physically. *Depression:* "Tears fall but why am I crying" The prisoner sheds his tears, which is understandable as his execution is about to happen. *Acceptance:* With a final cry, the prisoner looks to the sky and screams loud enough for all to hear, "Hallowed be Thy Name! Hallowed be Thy Name." With the noose around his neck and his death coming in a few moments, he finally accepts his death and instead of worrying of what was and what is to come, with a final cry to _'God'_ he prepares himself for what is to come.

Hi ladies. I'm so glad you chose this song. This is arguably the best Iron Maiden song. It is definitely one of their masterpieces. And it is for sure one of the best classic songs in the metal genre. This is probably one of the best songs to be introduced to Iron Maiden. The singer is also a commercial pilot and a world-class fencer. He flies the band's Boeing 747 when they are on tour, which they currently are. I will be seeing them in 5 months. You are right about the "character" reflecting on his mortality. This song is from 1982. Check out their song When the Wild Wind Blows from 2010. They have so many amazing songs. All of their songs tell some kind of a story. Some are about war, some are based on either plays, poems, or books. A few examples would be Rime Of the Ancient Mariner (a very famous poem) or Phantom Of the Opera (a famous play) and To Tame A Land (a famous book).
@brandonhey84235 жыл бұрын
Nightwish (a symphonic metal band from Finland) covered the main song of Phantom of the Opera, with both Tarja Türunen (the singer from 1997-2005) and bassist Marko Hietala providing vocals for the song. Also, I did not know To Tame A Land was based on a book. Iron Maiden also did songs in other parts of history as well, I think.
@jameshartwell4135 жыл бұрын
@@brandonhey8423 The book is called Dune. It was made into a movie in the 80's. I never saw the movie. Notice a line in the song "Body water is your life, but without it, you would die in the desert of planet Dune". They sure did other songs about events in history. Aces High is air combat in World War 2. Death Or Glory is about the Red Baron - a famous pilot from World War 1. Empire Of the Clouds is about a German Airship on it's maiden voyage from Germany to France about 7-9 years before the Hindenburg. Run To the Hills is about English settlers coming to America and the battles between them and the indians. Alexander the Great is about a famous king of Macedonia and feared conqueror around 300bc. There are others, but I can't think of them right now.

Feeling nervous or stressed when listening to metal is usually because you feel overwhelmed by the energy. You just have to take the energy with you and feel the power grow inside you, and that nervousness will turn into energy. Metal doesn't have limits of any kind, it can be extremely slow (Funeral Doom) or extremely fast (Black Metal) and everything in between, even on the same song. The trick is just to let the song flow through you and accept it and use its energy and strenght.

Hello ladies. Your analysis was spot on. Like always :) Iron Maiden are one of those bands that have the status of Metal Gods and it's totally deserved. They formed in 1975 (yes, no joke) and they still are around and doing music and mega tours and albuns. Bruce Dickinson (the vocalist) left his band Samson and joined the band in 1981 replacing Paul Di'anno. The man is a true Metal legend. He is one of the most famous musicians in Metal. But he is also a commercial pilot ( which led to a number of media-reported ventures such as captaining Iron Maiden's converted charter aeroplane,Ed Force One, during their world tours), he was a radio show host of his own show, he created a aircraft maintenance and pilot training company, hosted television documentaries, authored novels and film scripts, created a beer and competed at fencing internationally (and has founded a fencing equipment company); among many other things. In 2015, Dickinson fought and beat a cancerous tumour found at the back of his tongue. The man is a legend :) Well, again I wrote a long ass comment. Sorry for that. I will stop now. Keep exploring, ladies! \m/

Note that they write all their own material !! This is a must for you to react to, really ! The official video is obviously not a lyric video, but there's no need to. NO! don't fall for that one. It's just a little short instrumental. Listen to the song but don't do a reaction video to it. Not that I think the song is bad but it doesn't showcase the entire band. It's just Chuck playing guitars, which is a good thing (rest in peace, Chuck) but he plays guitars in all the other Death songs too. At least pick Cosmic Sea from Death if you want to react to one of their instrumentals. That's a great song too. Personally, I think you should stay away from instrumentals for reaction videos because lyrics are a big part of the emotional element of all music. Also VOICE OF THE SOUL HAS BEEN DONE OVER AND OVER AGAIN. Just like all the other videos you have reacted to. Be original! Death - Spiritual Health

or in the same way to this song called Fiddler on the Green by Demons and Wizards which is very special to many, including the song composed by Hansy Kürsch after witnessing a tragic accident where a traffic light was not respected and due to this imprudence saw a girl die, I sincerely recommend them because it is a very good song, greetings ... again jeje

metal may seem angry & evil but most of the metal community is very supportive

It's not at all angry and definitely not evil.. listen to most of iron maidens lyrics and all they are stories,w most just speaking the truth(i.e run to the hills,the trooper)

Yes, nice reaction! Iron Maiden is a legendary heavy metal band that is still kicking ass! Listen also to the live version of this music by themselves if you don't want to stream it. It is faster and of course also incredible. Your journey trought all the types of Rock are just begginning. Please, post vídeos more often! Metallica, Iron Maiden and Nightwish has so much more to show you, please react more musics from them. A suggestion is Nightwish Romanticide for you to see another side of the band. See ya! Cheers from Brazil!

Ladies...first off, kudos to u for reacting to an epic song from one of the most legendary & iconic metal bands of ALL time. They are absolutely one of the GOATS. But I also wanted give u major props on reacting to the LYRIC video for the song. THIS is how reaction videos are done right. When anyone reacts to music from an artist from another genre outside of what they normally listen to, this is the right way to do it. Listen to the music but also read & process the lyrics & realize that other genres also have amazing songs with depth, meaning & lyrical bars. It's just done in a different style. It's the only REAL way to experience & appreciate the beauty of other genres create. New subscriber here...

I took a few lines from the song As I walk all my life drifts before me And thought the end us near I'm not sorry Catch my soul its willing to fly away When you know your time is close at hand maybe then you begin to understand That life down here is just a strange illusion And put them In my father's eulogy. I cant count how many people said the words moved them to tears. Greatest song ever written. Great to see a new generation loving this musics and see the girl in glasses with her eyes closed at the end just feeling the power and imaginary of the song. Been loving IM sence 1980 or 81.
